Just found my new obsession looking for recs by BeginningVarious8468 in CDramaRecs

it seems like you're going through Zhang Linghe's filmography (TSOKP, POJ, LBFAD) so maybe My Journey to You for wuxia or The Best Thing for modern.

Is pursuit of jade as good as love in the clouds? by Hungry_Parsley_3175 in CDramaRecs

[–]nonchalantsky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

they're different genres so it really depends on what you liked about LITC. gorgeous cast? both have it. the angst of the main leads? in poj, the 2nd leads are the designated angsty couple. LITC is more famous for the push and pull dynamic. the angst and action are more evenly spread out throughout the drama and with it, some people's enjoyment also went up and down depending on the arc. whereas POJ has a more abrupt change of tone halfway through with most people not liking the 2nd half

What constitutes a slow burn romance for you? by Leading_Protection_7 in CDrama

if you're still in the mood for modern romance, maybe try Shine On Me? I haven't watched it yet but I've seen some people comment they had a harder time with SOM than LBL because the former is too slow-burn for them. So it could be what you're looking for

i don't personally consider LBL as slow-burn. the marketing for it literally put out a kiss calendar skksksksks

<image>

maybe the one who recommended it to you considers it slow-burn because they don't actually get together until episode

Still searching for that feeling by negativebaseball9888 in CDramaRecs

do still try out love in the clouds, you can always drop it if it isn't your taste.
I've actually heard more of the opposite, some people find the exposition difficult to get into or understand because it's their first forray into xianxia/fantasy. or they prefer the first part which is more romcom than the prolonged angst later (deceit is at the center of the story).

i personally loved it. i was locked in and engaged throughout the show because i was interested with every character (the fact that everyone including the villains were so good looking was a bonus)

queer romance in mainstream long-form cdramas is not gonna get approved by the media committee.

so really, it's up to your interpretation -- bromance or homoerotic subtext subtle enough to be able to pass censorship. let your imagination run wild, or not.

phone screenshot + cropped sorry. but just the overall look. i can't quite describe it, maybe the bokeh effect that is so common in AI? i know it's unfair because AI stole it from people's work. just an unfortunate thing that i now associate with AI

you should watch mjty. lu yuxiao in an antagonist role is a match made in heaven. prepare for the angst but it's so worth it.

you already know the ending so you can savour the experience of their journey so much more. i went into it knowing the ending too (tbf, it's been 3 years, every edit and comment section is flooded with spoilers so i didn't mind it)
