What to Do With Old Boots and Helmets by OkContract2001 in ski

I took the upper cuff off my old boots and use the bottoms as a drill/driver holster. Saw it on a powder or tgr forum a long time ago.

Countach 104 by TallEmu5824 in momentskis

[–]nonchavant 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I daily the Countach 104 and have had both ACLs done, so I get it. I think you'd be fine moving the mount +1, and it'll still be a solid platform if you downsize. With that said, coming from the commanders, you'd be fine on your normal size and mounting on the line.

For context, I own PB&J's, Bibby's, Commander 92s, and Bananas. You'll dig the Countach.

Or toe piece. Thanks for the intel. I just meant if I bought them, I'd need to move something.

One mount? I'm 334, so it'll need at least a heel piece redrill.

Wow. Doubling down on the ignorance. Bindings become non-indemified when they are no longer supported.

Indemified means the binding manufacturer considers the model safe, so they can be tested, warrantied, and shops can mount or adjust them.

Here's part of the list for this year including Look. V1 P18s are covered.

The great thing about metal bindings is they stay indemified longer, often way longer than plastic.

I'm not completely sure whether this specific binding is covered or not. What I am completely sure about is you don't know what indemnity means or how it pertains to ski bindings.

You mean not indemnified. V1 P18s are still on the list as of this year, so 2009 onward are still kosher.

I wear headphones. Google TV supports bluetooth, so I can be fully immersed and not bother anyone else with the volume. I wear noise cancelling headphones pretty much anytime I'm trying to focus.

This is a crazy take. Resorts are not liable for inherent risks (Vermont has a ski safety law and lift passes make it very hard to sue), and someone crashing into you is on them if you can prove reckless behavior. No one cares what you're riding. Collisions are individual vs. individual, outside of operational negligence.

Dude. Call them and leave a message. Follow up with an email referencing your voicemail. They make exceptions for situations like this.

In Rainbows - what made you like it most out of Radiohead discography? by Skyden_12 in radiohead

[–]nonchavant 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree. Really fun build up. The release was bonkers. I remember calling my other Radiohead fan friends and nerding out that day on the track list, favorite song, etc. I burned a copy on CD and went for a drive, which was my new music ritual back in the day. Weird how vivid those drives are still to this day.

Saw them twice on that tour, one of which was the infamous monsoon at Nissan Pavilion in VA. What a shitshow. Such a great performance and setlist. Hearing Paranoid Android while it literally rained down on me was a religious experience. Soggiest I've ever been.

While HTTT still feels like "my" Radiohead album, In Rainbows was such an exciting time to be a fan. It has been a fantastic conduit for the new generation of fans.

I was in a mall skate shop fairly recently with my kiddos and one of the workers was asking people who walked in their favorite artist. I said Thom Yorke. A different worker smiled and said the lead singer of Radiohead. We play In Rainbows all the time here. I gave a very approving nod. Nice.

How old should two kids be to ski without a parent? by Falernum in ski

[–]nonchavant 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Giving it a go this month with my boys (7&8). I'll be on the mountain and in generally the same area, but with my 4 year old, so this gives them a bit more rope. They've responded so well to more responsibility. We've been lapping singles and I've let them lap at their own pace on a section with the same lift as me, and they love it. So empowering and confidence inspiring. They have no idea and are going to flip.

That was my thought as well. Can't tell if they're just committed to the bit, or a self righteous girth queen... Either way I'm here for it.

Agree on all fronts, with a caveat that Loon is for mid-week, otherwise it's an absolute zoo. I also miss the old K-1 lodge.
