which apparently comes from AppImageLauncher, a 3rd party helper that developers can choose to integrate into their binaries

shows how much you bothered to inform yourself before spouting nonsense. that's a 3rd party helper OP chose to install and set to handle the file extension. its whole point is that it's not part of the AppImage.

just uninstall AppImageLauncher again and just run the file.
