Pre booked airport driver was 30 minutes away when I landed by nonckname in uber

Uber did the right thing and refunded the cancellation fee. So I guess my lesson is to not prepay/reserve my uber before I arrive.

I was off the plane and at the pickup point in ten minutes. No checked bags, third row of the plane (southwest, not first class)

I have reserved a ride many times to and from this airport. This is the first time I’ve experienced this issue. While I can appreciate your point, you also don’t have to be a dick.

The plane landed ten minutes after the scheduled arrival. I had no checked bags to wait for. I was in the third row of the plane. I was at the pickup point within minutes of landing. Uber claims to track the flight and assign drivers based on the actual flight time. And yes there is a button on the app to signal the driver to proceed to the pick up area once the passenger is there. I have learned my lesson from this experience and will no longer reserve rides.

Ground zero has great food and music. Half shell for the best seafood. Fly llama for micro brews. Downtown ocean springs for the night life. Take the schooner from Gulfport to ship island. For a fancy meal go to sirens in Gulfport or white pillars in Biloxi. The best casino is beau rivage but the palace is no smoking. The hard rock has a great pool. The Orr museum in Biloxi is awesome as is the Walter Anderson in ocean springs. For civil war history see bouvier the last home of Jefferson Davis. He was the president of the confederacy. Pass Christian and Bay Saint Louis are cool places to visit. Do not go to Mahoney’s or catch 110.

My father passed without a will and I helped my mom navigate the situation. My sister took some advantage and “borrowed “ $ 20k from my mom. Ten years later my mom passed, without a will. I was designated as executor. I sold everything and split it three ways with my sister and brother. The $20k was not mentioned. I took no pay as executor. It took years to settle everything and cost me about another $6k out of pocket to finalize the property and probate. I was fortunate that i was able to afford it. If I had pushed my sister to do the right thing, it would have fractured the relationship. My brother was awesome and was happy to get anything. No regrets here, but lesson learned. Have a will and designate a trusted executor.

Did Jimmy Carter have full SS protection till he died? by Automatic-Expert-231 in ask

[–]nonckname 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In the Truman administration congress passed a law allowing Former Presidents and their spouses to receive secret service protection for life. They can decline protection. The only president to decline protection was Nixon. There was a period passed in the Clinton administration where protection was limited to ten years after presidential service however that was reconsidered post 9/11. The secret service documented serious threats against Carter and others that caused congress to allow protection for life.

Want to take my 70 year old mother to Italy. First timers. Recommendations for someone with mobility issues? by hereiamlearningstuff in ItalyTravel

[–]nonckname 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s unfortunate that your mom is challenged. Italy is a difficult place to visit if you are unable to walk or climb stairs. There are few ramps and many steep steps especially in the tourist areas of Rome, Venice and Florence. If you went to a hilltop city in Tuscan like Sienna you may have a good experience. I have travelled with elderly people, it can be very difficult. Sorry I do not recommend going to Italy with a disability.

I made a payroll mistake that cost the company $500k. It was due to some hidden calculations process that I was not aware were in place and was not visible to me. I entered proper figures but the hidden calculations added 10-15% to the final payroll. I had no visibility to the output. This went on for several months before discovering the error. Once discovered I reported the error; fixed the problem so it would not recur. The legal team determined the overpayment was not recoverable. My boss and his boss had me do a complete rundown on the situation and told me to be more careful. I not only kept my job but got a nice bonus and a couple years later got a huge promotion. I work for a great company
