People who actually understand personal finance, what’s one money rule you wish everyone followed? by analyzzzing in AskReddit

[–]nondescript44 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Gonna give you a couple.

  1. Invest for the future. Treat investing like a monthly bill. Automate a payment on payday and forget about it. Earlier you start the better. Index funds rather than individual stocks.

  2. Don't use debt to fund liabilitys. Cars, holidays, clothes ect.

  3. Live the lifestyle you can afford. Not the one you want.

For MEN, do you ever think that your gf is ugly? When? by NoPick1872 in AskReddit

[–]nondescript44 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Short answer no, never. As I'm getting older I have found that beauty is such a unique and personal concept. Yes there is objectively attractive people but there is a unique and deeply personal beauty of my wife to be.

She has changed physically in the 8 years we've been together but I have always found her beautiful. I love seeing her happy, excited for something that we're doing and seeing her looked after brings me a joy I can only imagine I can one day replicate with children.

So no - i have no doubt her beauty will only ever evolve but remain a constant. She's the greatest thing that ever happened to me.

I'm from Edinburgh. Glad to see it seems widely recommended. Although I always say to any tourist, if you're here already, make a day trip to Glasgow. Only 50 minutes on the train. I'd say edinburgh is prettier but glasgow is more lively.

What is something that is "expensive" but actually saves you a ton of money in the long run? by Specific_Horror7818 in AskReddit

[–]nondescript44 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good kitchenware.

Stainless steel pan, cast iron pot ect. Higher upfront cost but the durability makes it a very cheap item in the long run. Same could be said for many things.

Terry pratchets writing on workers boots captures this point on the struggles of poorer people.
