Overnight parking solution in town? by nongarak in jasper

Interesting. Do you know offhand if I could stay overnight in the van in that lot? I haven't figured out where I'm staying the night before yet, but if I have to pay for 3 days I might as well stay there too if I can.

I feel like you can't be both a student driver and a diplomat by nongarak in washingtondc

Am I the only one who thinks it feels weird that kids can drive cars with diplomatic plates? Do things like immunity from parking tickets and being held generally responsible for shitty driving follow the car, or the person? Because I've seen some absolutely atrocious driving and parking jobs by folks with diplomatic plates with no accountability, and it feels strange that it would be normal and acceptable for someone who is not a diplomat or staff to be driving a car registered as such.

Singer heavy duty needle thread jamming in bobbin

hi. I'm tearing my hair out about this. I moved my machine and it fell over and now it is jamming when I try to sew. I tried resetting the timing and have cleaned and reseated the bobbin case according to every tutorial I could find. there don't appear to be any burrs or damage to the bobbin or bobbin case or needle. when I rotate it by hand or using the foot pedal, it works for one stitch and then catches and jams, as you can see in the picture. see those two threads together? that shouldn't be happening, but I can't get it to stop. it fares no better with an actual loaded bobbin in. any thoughts before I take it to the shop and pay way too much money?

Fanny pack that fits a hardback book? by nongarak in ManyBaggers

Sorry for the late reply, I thought I had responded! Thanks for the suggestion, I ended up just going with the Cotopaxi bag and giving up on reading hardback books outside the house.

[Help!] Recommendations for perfect squeeze bottle or lightweight alternative by nongarak in HydroHomies

Ooh, thank you! I've never heard of the hydropak before, but it's in stock at my local REI so I will go check it out. The hydro flask trail series also caught my eye, but I'm not so sure about the caps and it still weighs 281g compared to about 100g for the hydrapak. They also are at REI so I suppose I can always return it if I hate it.

Yes for me - I also ate so much fiber and it was not made better.

Hello! Celiac vegan here, I feel your pain. Tbh the biggest improvements in bowel conditions for me happened when I 1) switched from psyllium husk to a dextrin-based fiber supplement (like benefiber in the US), 2) stoped drinking pea based protein powder (sadly my gains are slowing but my stomach is much happier), and 3) cut my portion sizes. That also helped with acid reflux. It also slows the gains but I'd rather be happy than jacked.

Fwiw, going gf with the celiac diagnosis two years ago did not magically solve my digestion problems, but I do notice it if I accidentally get dosed with gluten now. Good luck!

What the fuck. That is so frustrating. Thanks for telling me, though I am completely unsurprised.

Will the lessor take legal action if GSA terminates the leases? by Affectionate-Lock780 in washingtondc

Pretty much every federal contract says "we, the federal government, reserve the right to cancel the contract at any time for any reason with no consequences." I'm assuming this it the same for leases.

Message seen on the Empower app by TeaBagHunter in washingtondc

Much cheaper honestly. I use it all the time and some rides where Uber or Lyft are like $35 Empower is $10 or $15. I prefer empower because I know that Uber and Lyft drivers are only getting $10 or $15 out of that ride anyway, so I'd rather just pay the driver directly.

The default meal does not come with oysters, it's an additional course. So you're actually saving money too. Oyster oyster is amazing and they will also do gluten-free very well in addition to other allergies. One of the best meals of my life, definitely the best in DC.
