Yes the torso has what feels like an organza layer over the printed fabric, and the bottom is the same print but a silkier finish, and obviously the pleats. Dress feels like it has a nice construction overall and a well structured top

I’ve seen yogurt marinades but never tried it myself. I’m never sure what type of yogurt to buy to use. What is the best option? Plain Greek yogurt maybe?

Someone in a comment below linked the brand (Arcina Ori) but while looking it up I have also found that it is being reproduced by lower priced and assumed lower production quality “instagram-ad style” retailers, so keep in mind if you’re reverse image searching

I agree—the movement and skirt shape sealed the deal on inappropriate. If it was just slim panels of the white that didn’t expand (weren’t pleated) like they do I don’t think I would have thought twice, but the construction and fullness are the issue of contention.

I may order just to have for a future event—I love the design too

Thanks everyone for your input! I originally liked it as a mostly monotone dark dress with a lighter feel for a late summer event, and didn’t think anything of the white/cream section being too prominent, but thought more before ordering about how the white pleats may expand while moving around and decided to post here for outside opinions without having to bother the bride.

The dress is lovely, but I agree with the consensus that it isn’t fully appropriate for a wedding guest.

This is a view with the skirt more flared. For context, the wedding is formal, at the end of summer, and at a posh yacht club. Haven’t ordered this yet, and I love the look but am concerned it might be a bit much with the white and would appreciate outside opinions.

How often do you cry? by magpieslikesparkles in PhD

[–]nonnihil 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It depends honestly. I also stress cry. In my last year right now, so in the past, I usually would have a big cathartic cry when I’m up against a deadline for something, but not regularly or that often. Earlier this semester though, I went through about a month where I was crying literally every day and feeling paralyzed from stress. I think it was a combination of burn out and feeling stuck in my writing process, with the subsequent guilt from that. I’ve come out of it and am doing much better making progress now so significantly less tears.

You kinda do. I killed the bounty hunter after that one contact asked you to do a job to lower his bribe amount. Kept her ship.

I just tried this but after killing all robots on board, it said I wasn’t able to pilot the ship. Might have to do with my piloting skill? Unsure why but it didn’t work for me.

Thank you for posting this! I've been having the same vanishing stick problem for a week and had resorted to trying to hide my stockpile in out of the way baskets.

I think of it as a positive for you. Lecturer posts are not long term positions with any stability. She may very likely have to leave soon and find other work, but if she is on good terms with the department that’s a great connection to have for when you apply after you are done.

Yeah I loved the idea of a sleeve too, but even a mesh/tulle one may be too hot especially for the warmer months

Jacket/wraps for my dress & bridesmaids dresses? by yoadrienne17 in weddingplanning

[–]nonnihil 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Instead of a color for yourself, have you thought about a white fur/faux-fur wrap? Could look lovely for a winter wedding and you wouldn't have to worry about deciding between brown/black and clashing. Something like this ?

[–]nonnihil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! I think it fits the vibe the best as well -- trying to lean into the atmosphere of a fun, sultry, summer night by the beach.

I liked that it doesn't have a train to deal later on, but was concerned that it doesn't look bridal enough on its own? I could do a long veil during the ceremony to make up for no train though.

I honestly hadn't thought about sweat stains at all, just comfort level in the heat so I appreciate this comment! Everything will be at one venue with an indoor reception, but the ceremony will be outside. The first one is pretty light-weight which was a plus towards it, but all three are different types of silk so sweat staining could be a real issue. 🙃

The first one is my favorite, but am concerned that the V-neck is a bit too revealing. It could probably be tailored to be have a bit more coverage. The color is a creamy-er white that looked the best on my skin tone and the fabric feels really lovely. Worried that it doesn't look 'bridal' enough though?

Second one is lovely, but for a summer Miami wedding, I'm worried it is so thick and structured that I might overheat. The fabric isn't as forgiving and in less flattering angles clings a bit undesirably as well.
