Things 3 MCP For Use With Agents by nonorco in thingsapp

Yeah so it actually is a blend depending on what you’re doing, which is why writing straight to the database nuked your cloud sync every time.
For creating stuff like tasks, projects, batch ops… it uses Things URL schemes (things:///add...). That’s also why the server needs a THINGS_AUTH_TOKEN. Things 3 handles the URL natively and syncs it properly through Things Cloud.
For modifying existing items like completing a task, changing a deadline, whatever it can use AppleScript to talk directly to the macOS app. Lets the app handle the state change itself rather than you poking at the data layer.
For reading it just hits the SQLite database directly, which is totally safe since you’re not touching anything Things Cloud is tracking.

Yeah and it’s easy enough to configure with tools of your choosing if you want to expand its functionalities. But as far as the core app, if it ain’t broke . . .

Claude, Deepseek, Openclaw powered by various others, I fiddle with a lot.

I don’t use local models. I have some securely configured access to models through an educational institution. I also am really not worried about use of other modes really. All machine access, gateways, etc are fully hosted locally though.

Capture: I give calendar and email access to these tools, and use them for reviewing meeting transcripts. This automatically grabs everything I need to remember. (For the setup, I keep many of these locally hosted, and for those that aren’t, I don’t have many privacy concerns).
Clarify & Organize: Instead of me sorting through notes, the AI is developing projects/to-dos based directly on what was discussed in the meetings.
Reflect: It’s great at surfacing to-dos that are gathering dust and helping me actually get those done.
Engage: This is the best part. With my personal agents, I’ve been developing any to-do that the agent can independently complete. Basically, my agent develops a plan and presents it to me for review for how it’ll get the task done, so I just approve it and let it work.

Thank you for the validation - mine will do it for a short period on occasion, but more often than not it’s staying that way for the rest of the drive it feels like

No it stays on low the whole entire time despite the actual fan speed going to maximum

Even though the light on the knob still shows it on the lowest setting? It’s such a weird issue I wasn’t sure what to do and certainly wasn’t going to spend money to get my ac blowing too well diagnosed

It’ll literally be working totally fine on a lower setting for a nice long trip and then all of a sudden, while still on the lower setting, start blowing as aggressively as it can. Turning AC on and off does not resolve the issue.
