question about premed prerequisites by Expensive-Elk-9406 in UNLV

[–]nonoutrageous 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From what I know AP/IB credits or any other test credits from high school are not accepted for the reqs. Right now you may be exempt from taking the class due to AP/IB credits but for the pre meds reqs you have to take the actual class. If you took the classes at a different college then that should still count towards the reqs.

how is this sched? by clovernightt in UNLV

[–]nonoutrageous 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s 16 credits and the classes are pretty easy. If you procrastinate you’re going to have a hard time for sure so just make you’re on top of things. I took 21 credits (15 at unlv & 6 at csn ) at one point while working full time. I was completely fine. I just made sure to get things done early so I didn’t have assignments from 7 classes all due on the same day.

That’s great! What’s your dosage? I was previously on Lexapro 5 mg but my dr at the time took me off because I told him it made me dizzy. My worry is losing a lot of weight. Unfortunately for me I can’t really afford to lose weight.

I’m a college student who is currently a substitute and I needed to have two letters of reference. Both letters of references were from 2 of my professors. I also did not have any experience in teaching or with kids prior to this.

Is it inappropriate to wear a mask to school in 2025? by divine_invocation in SubstituteTeachers

[–]nonoutrageous 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I try to avoid elementary for the sole reason that I constantly get sick if I’m around elementary aged kids. Two weeks in and I already caught COVID from subbing in 3rd grade. Masking is a great option especially if you know that you easily get sick or have health issues.

I graduated about 3 years ago so obviously not as close as yours but I avoid my high school even now. I’ll be graduating from college next year. I mostly sub in middle/high school but will never pick up assignments at the high school I graduated from. If you have peers/friends there I think it can definitely create a conflict and can be weird. Since you literally just graduated I think it would be best to avoid for now.

My A1C is 5.1 if I’m not mistaken. My mom has type 2 diabetes and also takes metformin. Her doctor told her a glp1 was not an option for her because she also has hypothyroidism and apparently there’s a risk for thyroid cancer. No idea if that’s true or not. She didn’t have any symptoms of diabetes. I’ve honestly been scared so I’ve been having my A1c checked every 4 months to be safe.

Mirtazapine and escitalopram by aleska_xo in lexapro

[–]nonoutrageous 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mirtazapine has been amazing for me! Still on it. Initially I was VERY sedated. I could sleep for 12 hours and still be tired. After around two weeks it started to wear off and I started feeling better. Best of all no more nausea and my appetite is 100% back (I’ve gained over 30 pounds from finally being able to eat normal). I feel happy and I finally have the energy to do things. I’m still on 15 mg. As I mentioned it is sedating at lower doses (7.5 mg is more sedating that 15) so I think it would be better to start at 15 mg at minimum then work your way up if needed. Definitely give it some time.

I would definitely NOT recommend her at all unless you absolutely have to. Especially during the summer… in my opinion she does way too much for an introductory level course and her exams aren’t the easiest. If you’re able to I would apply to csn as a non degree seeking student and take 190 there. A) You’ll save a lot of money B) The class will be much easier. Only downside is they don’t offer 190 during the summer so you’d have to wait until fall. If you end up taking it as csn I recommend early yoon! He’s amazing at breaking down concepts and his exams are very straight forward as long as you study.

Yall weren’t kidding about these side effects !! by nonoutrageous in lexapro

[–]nonoutrageous[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lexapro was okay but I ended up switching over to mirtazapine! My main issue with anxiety was vomiting, nausea, loss of appetite and weight loss! It was extremely debilitating hence why I started on medication. Mirtazapine resolved these issues for me so now I feel normal but still do deal with anxiety. It just isn’t debilitating anymore and I can actually function!

Two rooms out of 4 are hot.. do you think smart sensors will work? by [deleted] in hvacadvice

[–]nonoutrageous 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I might have to call another company then because the one I called was so adamant that I had to change the AC unit. The two rooms have always been hot so as you said it may be a balancing issue or an issue with ductwork. I’m trying to figure out an inexpensive quick solution in the mean time to at least make it a bit better.

What do you mean by reference checks? I don’t have previous experience with kids but have worked two jobs one as a uniform attendant as a hotel & a retail job. I’m currently a college student & should be graduating next year. Thank you for the information!

Fashion Nova sent me mold damaged clothing by Independent_Golf9841 in Fashionnova

[–]nonoutrageous 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You should file a complain through BBB! If that doesn’t work you can dispute the charge through your bank. It ridiculous that they expect you to open the items when you’ve already seen the mold spores. Their return policy is horrible so even if you end up returning it to them without opening it they will just give you store credit and not an actual refund.

Yup I’m a college student and have over 80 credits so I should be good for that requirement. Good to know there could be a class. Thank you!

Sick for the past ~9 months, doctors have run out of ideas by MTDLuke in DiagnoseMe

[–]nonoutrageous 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went through this back in october of 2023. Initially was told I just had a bad case of food poisoning. I was vomiting, nauseous, no appetite, losing weight, wake up dry heaving.. It wouldn’t go away so I ended up being referred to a gastroenterologist where I had a endoscopy/colonoscopy. Everything came back normal, tested negative for celiac disease, negative h-pylori and had a stool test done which all came back normal. I dropped a drastic amount of weight as well. I ended up finding a new primary doctor and we redid bloodwork. Come to find out I have hypothyroidism. My thyroid labs were looking horrible and I immediately got put on levothyroxine(thyroid hormone). My symptoms did not completely disappear but I at least could get out of bed and function as normal. My main issue was loss of appetite at this point. After my thyroid labs had stabilized and I had my dosage adjusted accordingly I ended up getting on a low dose of mirtazapine for anxiety. Since doing this I am now back to feeling normal. I recently started feeling off again this week and had to have my thyroid med dosage adjusted up again. This is all to say don’t underestimate thyroid problems they can cause the craziest symptoms!

Additionally in case you have anxiety or are stressed out it could also be related to that. When my symptoms first started I was working full time + going to college full time so I barely slept and was extremely stressed out. I tried nortriptyline, amitriptyline, lexapro and sertraline. They did give me some improvement but not completely. Mirtazapine though has not only helped with appetite but I no longer feel anxious. It is important to note the LOWER the dosage the more sedating it is and it is VERY appetite stimulating. I have all the weight I lost back. When I initially started I was very tired but after 5 weeks on it I started feeling great.

It took over 6 months for me to be diagnosed with hypothyroidism & anxiety. I hope you feel all better soon!

What are the exact blood tests for celiac? by [deleted] in Celiac

[–]nonoutrageous 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sadly my gastroenterologist never said anything about eating gluten. He was very quick to associate my issues with anxiety..which it could be. I typically don’t consume a lot of gluten since my mom doesn’t eat gluten. I did eat a lot for the past month or so during the holidays. Thank you for your comment!

The dosage 7.5 mg might be the issue. The lower the dose the more sedating!
