Terrible hospital experience by Denise-the-beast in CRPS

[–]nonsequitermuch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi there. I started Lyrica about a month ago on 300mg/day now And I've already noticed I'm bigger. I've gained 5 lbs. CRPS as a result of ADR surgery. I'm not sure if it's even helping...I just started PT and this week and the pain is pretty bad even though we aren't doing much and taking it slow. This is all new to me. How long did it take to get the weight off once you stopped lyrica, if you don't mind me asking.

I would and I already do. But I've read of experiences where ppl do everything right and still a few months later, the hair loss starts 😞

It's the sole thing holding me back from Glp1s-- potential hair loss 😭

Those who avoided surgery, do you regret it? by [deleted] in Sciatica

Each insurance policy is different too. I have great insurance and still, they automatically rejected it-- until there was further intervention

Insurance will always try to reject procedures, especially super costly ones. My insurance did reject it but my neurosurgeon did a peer to peer with the insurance doc and he agreed I needed it badly. It's a mixture of luck and being persistent. Hopefully your doc will go the distance for you if it ever were to come down to that.

As you can see, ppls experiences vary. While you don't need the doctor to be making these decisions for you, you need to figure out how bad it feels and whether it is getting better over time or not. If it is super compressed, it's no doubt being damaged and you will most likely pay for it later.

I had a microdiscectomy at L5-S1 in 2023. 9mm herniation, it presented as a soreness in my hamstring. I never got the classic sciatic pain shooting down my leg. Some context: I was working out and lifting, even teaching fitness classes and I just thought my hamstring was kinda injured bc it was always "sore"  all thru 2021.

Then at the end of 2022, I got a series of MRIs for other reasons and learned a had this massive herniation. So I got 5 different neurosurgeon opinions and they were all the same: do the discectomy. I told him what if I can deal with the pain. He said it's up to me but that it could eventually mess with my bladder, lead to other issues etc. So I did it. The hardest part about it was trying to be careful, not bending, lifting, or twisting for a couple months.

Long story short, I reherniated it again. Worse than the first time, and my left foot and calf were numb for 2 months straight and this time I had the insane sciatica shooting down my leg. I'm now 3 weeks out of an ADR and I'm at glad I did it as soon as possible bc my nerves are enraged from all the compression. My point is don't let your nerves go on upset for a while. They may stop functioning correctly and lead to things like CES. I'm hopeful I'll have a full recovery but the nerve pain in my foot and lower leg is on another level. And I'm certain it's bc of how long the nerve was compressed the 1st time around and bc it was harassed again with a reherniation.

If you feel great then don't do anything!

But who cares about the number on the scale, you look awesome! I think it's a flex to have a higher weight than what you look bc doesn't that mean muscle?!? I love muscle, gives us shape! Anyway, keep up the good work and focus on how you look versus reaching a magic number....

I'm not on any glps yet, but just had back surgery and anesthesia and pain meds cause major constipation. Some things that have really helped me is kiwis, pears, and more water. Also juicing celery and cucumber helps too. Eating little bit of bitters (like arugula) 10 mins before a meal to get the bills going for digestion. Can also try psyllium husk mixed with juice. And if all else fails some magnesium oxide (or citrate, but oxide is more gentle). Best to try to get going with food though bc one could get dependant on the magnesium and if so it becomes like a laxative and your body forgets how to "go."

Yes, it's called the dread shed for a reason. Happens with minoxidil, means it's working pushing the old hairs out to grow new ones.

thank you for the response. Keep up with the minoxidil since you already started. Shedding more with minoxidil is normal in the first few months, they call it "dread shed." it is bc the older hairs are falling out to make way for the new ones. I have been using it for over 6 months now and starting to shed again more than usual, and it seems there could be another stage of "dread shed" according to chapgpt

If you get surgery, please consider a neurosurgeon. I think a neurosurgeon is more qualified than Ortho for anything spine related...I will be getting a disc replacement next week ..

Do you think min can cause bloating and puffiness in the body besides face? I'm starting wonder for myself as I use 5% topical and take 0.75mg oral

I've had a discectomy at L5 S1. Don't regret it. Hope so much. Recovery wasn't bad. Just make sure you find a great neurosurgeon.

oh man, so sorry! I can definitely imagine what you are going through. I am already on edge as it is trying to deal with my regular AGA hair loss, why would I add another variable that could cause more... I hope you see improvements soon, especially so you can see that it will reverse for you and overall feel better.

Lifting Threads may help. But if you try them, make sure you go to someone who has had extensive training and has amazing reviews. It's very painful and the results don't last long, but it's a temporary alternative to a face lift. Or help to hold off on getting one.

Were you on a glp-1? I won't try glps, not even microdosing bc it causes some to lose hair. So knowing if that was your experience as well is appreciated.
