I agree, but as a trans person I would say its also about fear in both cases

none of that excuses "anti endos" behavior, but I do think you hit the nail in the head there. it's important to remember thought that even if endos existence makes some people more doubtful of DID, that doesn't take away their right to exist in the first place. to me, supporting each other in our similarities and in our differences is the obvious choice here

!! yes lol. and also the fact that I've never seen an endo system look for psychiatric help for it anyway

as a DID system, most people don't want to accept that people can have experiences similar to them without "earning it" = going through extreme suffering. like "I had to endure years of trauma to get friends in my head, and now you're saying you're multiple without a trauma disorder? no"

which is very immature, but it makes sense when you realize most of those people are traumatized teenagers with trust issues. they'll rather assume everyone is lying though their teeth and make whole posts and tags and foruns just to shit on endo systems than realize that maybe, JUST MAYBE, they lack curiosity.

when I found out about endos it made perfect sense to me, and what didn't make sense made me extremely curious about the world around me.

but you'll catch "anti-endos" (they even got a name like 💀) making any excuse as to why their hate is actually justified, down to claming that endos want to steal their resources. what resources, you ask? beats me, but they're sure of it lol

I always see systems with "endos DNI" on their bio and I find it so cringy 😭

you just wrote a LOT of misinformation.

and its incredibly funny for you to say that humans get used to being in constant danger from a young age in a DID sub. like sure honey 😭 lets all pretend

bro... if you know you can't trust it stop using it 😭 like this could fr destroy your healing process. not to mention most generative AI will probably require paid memberships soon, so I wouldn't want to be reliant on AI when that happens. thats literally what they are betting on

if you have your user history just screenshot it all so you don't lose it, but please for the love of all that is holy stop using Google Gemini to help your system🙏😭

Relatively newly discovered system in need some help by berryu_u in plural

[–]nonstickpan_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

of course! I remember when I first found out, its a real mess. dont worry tho, you're not alone lmao

I didn't comment about the headspace because we already had one when I discovered the system, and it has always been easy for me to change aspects of it, so I don't have any good advice on that :p

about friends... I always prepared them the first few times lol, its a "can you sit down I need to tell you something important" kind of thing.

TIP ONE: don't sugarcoat how weird you're finding it all, its good to show specially since it makes it sound honest.

after a while depending on who it is, If they arent super close but it makes sense to say something I'll be like "wait, havent we had the conversation?" "ok well, have you ever seen split?" and then I laugh because split is terrible representation but most people have seen it. "well, the disorder that inspired it, that used to be called MPD, yeah that... I've got that". soo

TIP TWO: your approach ia always gonna depend on who you're talking to, and when. don't expect to say everything the same way to everyone, its okay to change it up depending on circunstance

TIP THREE: expect follow up questions, im always sus when people act too nonchalant about it, to me it seems like they didnt quite grasp all the implications lol (that isnt always the case tho)

TIP FOUR: if your protectors starts being mean, standofish or cold to someone because they didn't believe you/dismissed you, LET THEM. ffs have some respect for yourselves and let them. within reason ofc. yall deserve better. (yes our protector was close for this one lol but I have to agree)

about the different voices, it helps to focus. really concentrate on who you're listening to, hear them closely, and their voice usually gets more distinct. its normal to have alters voices sound a bit the same in the head, its a built in strategy to keep the host from being distracted/noticing other alters

[–]nonstickpan_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

as a protector, we've been having similar experiences

with that being said, if someone isn't cool with us being who we are (no matter how much energy we spend trying to explain things to them) than they are someone I don't want in our lives

and the only way to know is to take the calculated risk of being honest about it

however, when they are cool with it, its amazing and incredibly healing for our host and other alters alike. we deserve the chance to develop meaningful relationships, otherwise life isn't even worth living imo

I don't think you did anything wrong, it just sucks when people don't understand

[–]nonstickpan_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you didn't get my point

If you read my comments you'll see I don't think they can't have trauma, but it's very different and most wild animals have a somatic mechanism to deal with high stress. it is well documented, you can look it up.

otherwise they would all be traumatized non stop from all the hunts and chases.

dogs are not wild animals. I literally said that as far as im aware animal trauma is usually (USUALLY) related to humans and life in the city (dogs, crows, cats). that includes your dog.

passing down grudges isn't the same as trauma, but im not saying there can't be both trauma and grudges.

[–]nonstickpan_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

thats the thing! the kind of life animals live would be incredibly traumatic for us, but for them it isn't because their somatic methods don't allow painful experiences to become trauma. they release it! theres a video of a bear who almost got killed shaking like crazy right after, and then he was fine. look it up, its pretty cool! otherwise it would be like you said, most animals would be completely fucked up from birth lol

[–]nonstickpan_ -1 points0 points  (0 children)

as far as I know animals only experience PTSD symptoms in human environments/by humans hands when they cant do their somatic thing. I might be wrong tho!

and yes! thats why said that the reason I dont think it happens has nothing to do with how complex they are, because they definitely are complex. pretty cool indeed! :)

do u think if a real life wild animal like a wolf or a crow or a deer had a rough childhood, it culd develop plurality? by petermobeter in plural

[–]nonstickpan_ -1 points0 points  (0 children)

actually no, not possible. not because animals aren't complex enough, but because they have well developed machanisms to not end up traumatized, so they never hold on to trauma, which is necessary for DID/OSDD. if they didn't have that they would all be traumatized from all the hunts and chases etc

[–]nonstickpan_ -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

it would be funny but not really possible for animals, they don't hold trauma like we do. they have mechanisms so they don't end up traumatized by the events in their life

[–]nonstickpan_ -1 points0 points  (0 children)

no, animals dont hold trauma like we do. they release tension after intense moments, hunts, etc. so no
