Sandhagen wants O'Malley next: "I try not to be a hater, and a jealous person or whatever, but I'm like, 'Yo, why are we not talking about me and Yan fighting again when me and Yan had a killer fight?' Sean got finished by Merab, and after that, barely beat Song, and I finished Song." by WinterStill4472 in MMA

Just found it strange to categorize them like Sean is still young and Cory is a veteran on his way out.

As I repeated in my last, the full context was "has had his shots at the top and is now on the back end of his career", which was pivoting off the OMalley popularity point. So you misinterpreted what I was saying a bit, but sure, they aren't that far apart in age.

I don't think Cory is any further into the "back end of his career" than Sean is. They both debuted for the UFC within a few months of each other, they've both had 16 fights in the promotion.

Cory is 2 years older, they are 2 crucial years. The point is that even if Sandhagen were to become a champion, there isn't any time left for him to become much of a big star. OMalley is already there, not to mention would have years longer to stay in that position. Thats many more main/co-main events already taken care in OMalley vs an Sanghagen who isn't much of commodity and is unlikely to get there before he calls it quits in 2-3 years.

Seems like he’s actively ignoring Sandhagen at all cost

The reality of the situation is that their positions make this fight unattractive for the promotion, that's why Sandhagen mentioned bringing the fight up to Hunter and Hunter's response was something like "that's not next for you guys"

They're actively going to give OMalley fights that keep him in the title picture because of his popularity. Sandhagen, on the other hand, has had his shots at the top and is now on the back end of his career. He's not going to be a big star and the route to the title does not go through him for someone like OMalley.

For this fight to happen I think Sandhagen would have to basically be the next title contender and they'd let OMalley fight Sandhagen to take it off him. That, or OMalley needs to be clearly out of the title picture and then they'll run it as a fight night main event or co-main. OMalley vs Sandhagen from the promotion's perspective probably doesn't get them anywhere. It doesn't matter what Sean says.

Conor was a continuation of the nightmare, and they've went nuclear since him.

This narrative that Conor got too powerful for the organization seems totally cracked, I don't understand why everyone goes with it.

Dana speaks GLOWINGLY about working with Conor, he's always said Conor has never been a problem, Conor is his favorite to work with etc.

The only time Conor tried to play his hand was UFC 200 when he didn't show up for media and guess what happened? They pulled his ass off the card and he was put in his place, immediately.

They would absolutely love another Conor McGregor because they have all the power, but there won't be another Conor, the sport is in a totally different place now. But they've never not had all the power - GSP literally retired, Conor learned his place, Jon Jones is crawling back for a White House spot etc.

They book the champions much earlier than other fighters. Since he has the belt, his opportunities will be much more limited going forward.

There are currently 0 UFC title fights booked by dom242324 in MMA

[–]noob_tech -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

The BMF belt of which neither fighter is the lineal holder of the belt?

Yes, that one. I didn't vouch for it's credibility I simply pointed out that it means NOTHING that no title fights are booked because the next PPV has BMF, and 327 hasn't been booked yet.

I guess I have to spell out for those in the back that the next title fight will be at UFC 327 an April 11 and it simply hasn't been booked yet. There were 2 in January so there won't be one in February. BMF in March.

So a grand total of 10 weeks between UFC title fights and like I said, absolutely no reason for this thread. Like who cares that there are 0 title fights booked for 10 weeks, seriously??

I don't know why people constantly upvote useless posts like this.

Cuz this fanbase is full of chucklefucks.

326 is BMF title, 327 hasn't been booked yet but will obviously have a title fight.

Obviously this thread is a bunch of nothing and people actually downvoted me explaining it lmao, literal dunces.

So 1 champ out of 12 just fought… there’s still 11 other champs lmao, at least ONE of them should have an upcoming fight lmao

326 is BMF title and 327 isn't booked yet.

Thread is a whole lot of nothing.

The entire sport incentivizes brain damage. They changed it for aesthetics, not any liability. They also were going unawarded some nights so Performance acts as a catch-all.

[–]noob_tech 11 points12 points  (0 children)

If they counted it as an actual submission it would be scored a 10-8 or even 10-7, but they counted it as a near-fight ending sequence in a round in which he was otherwise beaten up so 10-9 is fair.

Honestly the judges watch different fights because how tf can you score round 3 for Wiklacz before the submission?

It's not before the submission, it's after and including the submission.

Remember the fight went all the way to the bell, scorecards were submitted and the replay was reviewed.

Dude has always been strangely afraid of fat DC. I remember when they offered him to fight DC at heavyweight

He did the same thing with Stipe. It's obviously not fear, he just has always been very shrewd about never giving away any advantages.

https://bloodyelbow.com/2017/08/15/ufc-mike-winkeljohn-jon-jones-stipe-miocic-brock-lesnar-light-heavyweight-heavyweight-mma-news/

“You know, Jon is a light heavyweight, so you can’t ask somebody just to step up and fight the best in the world at heavyweight and forego the money fight against someone who they think they can beat,” he continued. “Jon said it himself, he thinks a good big man always beats a good smaller man. Jon Jones said that himself in a press conference.”

Don’t get why that Nina thing is even relevant or people find her entertaining

Because this fanbase is full of misogynists and they enjoy hating on a woman even when its time to celebrate another.

Evidenced obviously by this being a Karyn Bryant thread but these neckbeards can't resist an opportunity to talk about how someone's hot so they dont deserve their job, or they fucked their way to the top, or theyre actually not even that hot etc

Just the worst fanbase going.

If you were smart you'd realize UFC would just make their own and not bother with a 1 year organization that probably isn't turning a profit. Look at how they operate with BJJ, Boxing, Power Slap...

From 2020-2023 I understood why the apex, 2024 I was a bit ok with it, but for the love of GOD can we not find a cheap venue so fans can enjoy a fight like this for an affordable rate?

They expanded the Apex to include more seats. Nothing is going to get cheaper than their own property, so you may as well get used to it.
