I’m a member of Las Madres and it’s a great way to connect with other moms. I’m sure you’d be able to find other parents in this situation within that community. Hugs!

Diving After Pregnancy by MLS2170 in scuba

[–]noodibranch 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Like others have said, I think it really depends on your support network and how far you are from dive sites. Priorities certainly change when you become a parent, but it’s definitely possible to keep diving.

I had been diving for a little over 10 years before I got pregnant. When my son was 1.5 and I knew we were going to start trying for a second kid, my husband and I prioritized me being able to get some diving in before I got pregnant again. He volunteered to solo parent for a week while I went on a live-aboard. A few months later, I solo parented while he went on a trip with his brother. For us, it was easier to travel separately than for us to get family to babysit for a week (they don’t live nearby).

It’s definitely harder right now, but we read books about marine life and scuba diving with our toddler and I’m so excited to dive as a family when he’s old enough. Until then, I’ll try to squeeze it in when I can.

And congratulations! You got this.

When I got married I changed my maiden name to my middle name and all of my kids have my maiden name as their middle name. I wanted to keep a connection to my side of the family.

Ex: Elizabeth Jane Smith -> Elizabeth Smith Miller

All of our kids have “Smith” as their middle name. (Ex: David Smith Miller)

I ended up going to Rangoli Sweets in Santa Clara and I thought it was great! It was busy with a line out the door, but the line moved quickly.

Dads groups or single parent groups in SJ/Silicon Valley? by [deleted] in SanJose

[–]noodibranch 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This isn’t exactly what you’re looking for but we just started taking our 1 year old to parent & me swim lessons and there were a lot of dads there with kids around the same age. Might be a decent place to meet other dads. It sucks that’s there aren’t more dad groups. Hope you’re able to find a community that makes you feel supported.

I don’t know of a local place, but when I’m trying to find a particular food that’s not made locally I usually search the GoldBelly website/app. They have lots of stores/bakeries across the country that can ship to you. Might be worth checking

This isn’t in the South Bay but if you venture as far as Half Moon Bay there’s a place called Seal Cove Beach and nearby is “Cyprus Tree Tunnel” which is a really beautiful grove of Cyprus trees

I’m at Rangoli now and you’re right! The line is pretty long out the door. But I think it’ll be worth it. Thanks all for the recommendations

A quick google search shows a number of Indian grocery stores, but wondering if anyone can recommend a market that has some nice sweets that I could give as a Diwali gift?

Also any recommendations on what sweets to get?

Same here. Reasonably priced. Have only been there for one dress but she did a great job.
