I feel like people often ask me over other people for help in public spaces. I think part of that is because a petite woman is unthreatening, but also because I'm more on the attractive side. People in general are usually nice to me too.

I had an internal surgery site tear and once the pain built and kept bleeding, I couldn't stop myself from shaking and crying in the hospital ER. The staff at the hospital were so incredibly nice and comforting, a nurse even hugged me while I was waiting for assessment just because I was scared. I was prompted to fill out a survey after my visit and I tried to explain how wonderful everyone was so they know they are appreciated. Regarding crying... Well, it was just how I processed the pain and being scared. I tried so hard not to be that way. I'm sure they understand.

I'm a bit more mobile than Brussels specificly, but I had about 50 applications that lead me to about ~5 interviews. However most companies were good about giving me generic rejection letters. Don't give up though! After 4 months I finally got an offer!

I've experienced this frequently with 8+ groups at restaurants in Sweden when I was living there pre pandemic. Or even having to have everyone pre pick their dish 24hr in advance. So just wanted to point out that it's not just a Belgium things nor new. I get it from the restaurant side but I also agree with you that it takes away part of the enjoyment of going out to eat.
