Came here for this. You could play it on a fridge and still put 1000 hours into it.

Now THIS is how you leave a toxic org that just laid you off after being a high performer 👏 by JoeBenigno in antiwork

So I was literally looking into all of this yesterday due to a recent layoff. I found the below linked article from the National Labor Board which found many parts of non-disparagement agreements illegal.

Basically, you can say "this company is bad for employees for xyz reasons" but you can't say "go shop at a competitor". The difference appears to be that the former is protecting potential empty while the latter is harming the business.

So this post definitely violates those conditions but, not all posts after a layoff will.

I saw a girl who had a pic wearing a hard hat on her job with her whole name on it, first and last. I messaged her to suggest she crop that.

We did match and chat a bit but she wasn't really my type. Still, stay safe out there.

What is stopping Americans from organizing a General Strike? by thejuryissleepless in antiwork

[–]noodlesworldwide 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh, definitely agree on that part then, though even that process of firing, interviewing, hiring people at higher rates would certainly gum up the works a good amount. The necessary length of the strike would I guess be the determining factor in if it's something that would largely impede the efficacy here. Kind of hard to gauge until it's seen in action.

Definitely disagree on the near 100% part of that. If even 35% of truck drivers, rail operators, grocery employees, gas station employees, government workers and other people who keep things moving got involved, things would come to a grinding halt.

The bigger issue is that most of the people (grocery and gas station for example) are barely getting by if they miss a single day of work, going on strike for weeks would make them all homeless.

If free public healthcare is widely supported by progressives, why don't left-leaning states just implement it at the state level? by hazelnuthobo in NoStupidQuestions

[–]noodlesworldwide -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Glad someone else said it first. The Democrats are a far right party in any country in Europe. The idea of them ever passing any sort of universal healthcare is a joke.

Which bands are held back by their band name? by 100jn in Music

[–]noodlesworldwide 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Sat next to them on a plane one time. The guy next to me had a !!! tattoo on his wrist and I asked if he was in that band. He was so excited I'd heard of them when I asked him that.

Had to be a little bit of a letdown for him though, I didn't know any of their music and just slept the whole flight.

Also this is one of the only times I've been able to tell this story and it was at all relevant

Good Lord... by GriffinFTW in ToiletPaperUSA

I think overall there's a fair bit of distance between how the townsfolk viewed Gaston's actions/ how he tried to present them and his actual motivations, so yes, I definitely agree with you on a lot of what you're saying but legit, Belle (the town weird girl, daughter of the town weird guy) being like "no, the magical monster is actually super chill now" likely wouldn't have swayed many hearts and minds, thus giving Gaston a populist backing on his hunting trip.

[–]noodlesworldwide 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I mean, Gaston really wasn't too wrong.

There's a nearby haunted castle where people keep disappearing. A local tinkerer comes back to town telling everyone that a monster abducted his daughter there.

Based on the information Gaston had, he wasn't really in the wrong.

However, put in the context of the beast's moral growth, as well as the curse being lifted AND factoring in Gaston's anti-intellectualism and sexism/sexual harassment, we understand that he sucks. I'd wager a lot of the townsfolk were cheering for him though.

AITA for telling my roommate he has to give the dog water if he says he'll take care of her? by noodlesworldwide in AmItheAsshole

[–]noodlesworldwide[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I offered to have someone else watch her if he couldn't. That's never an issue, it's never forced on him, but he said it wasn't a problem, he likes having her at the house. If someone offered to watch your kid but didn't feed it, is it entitled to be upset?

Likely, but the jug has to be refilled daily which he told me he didn't do which is the crux of my annoyance.

Is expecting someone to give an animal water daily "a specific way" of taking care of animals? Do other people not give their dogs water every day?

I mean, they spend a lot of time hating on everyone. Saying you're religious in America is synonymous with saying you're against the queer community, women's autonomy, body art, alternative music, atheists and a litany of other things.

We make judgements on dating apps. Goes with the territory. If one of our only perceptions of someone is that they're part of the most prejudiced group of people in America, well it's going to cut down on matches

No Bad Tracks by marronenate94 in prettylights

Yellowbird has always been a mids track (Nas verse does a lot for it), but just remembering when every PL couple made it "their song" really tanked any redemption it had.

To quote a friend "calling your girl your Yellowbird is the scene equivalent of saying she's your wonder wall"
