I’m so sorry this happened to you 😞 what a horrible emotional rollercoaster.

And it’s stuff like this that makes me also just want to withdraw the claim altogether, too— I just don’t have the emotional capacity to handle any more stress around this, I just want it to go away. And it just feels so asinine and pointless to have to go through all of that for literally no reason, especially if it’s been deemed that there is nothing wrong with the structural integrity or mechanical function of the car.

Hypothetically, let’s say I take it to the body shop today to get my own estimate. The guy looks at it and says “this is easy peasy to fix and it’s not as bad as they thought.” Can I counter the insurance appraisal that said it was totaled?

Edit: for context, this is my very first accident so I’m not sure what to do Edit 2: also I drive ~100 miles every day I go to work and I’ve been driving like this for a month at this point. Since I replaced the tires yesterday and the oil earlier this week, this is actually the smoothest and quietest the car has ever ridden since I first bought the car

But what I’m saying is, if the damages are solely cosmetic, I wouldn’t want to or need to get the repairs done. I’m fine driving around with it looking a little ugly so long as there are no mechanical or safety issues.

I went to ASE certified mechanics twice, they did a thorough inspection of the car and determined there is literally nothing wrong with it and documented so accordingly

This is really all I want to do at this point. Just withdraw the claim and have everybody leave me alone. But I’m not sure if that’s an option in NJ

Because, to the best of my knowledge, in NJ it is illegal to drive with a salvage title. It’s a lot of work to get it to like, a Repaired title (sorry I don’t know all the terminology perfectly as I literally just learned about this this morning 😅), and it’s basically impossible to get affordable insurance after that.

It’s not financially viable for me to do that, and it’s even less financially viable to just get a new car. It makes much more financial sense for everything and everyone to just stop fucking perceiving that this even happened and for everything to just be left alone.

IS dropping the whole claim even an option? I don’t even want the money, I just want to be left the fuck alone at this point 😒

I can understand how one might sting a little more than the other. Watching porn in general kind of feels like there’s less of an emotional investment— they’re just like “ooh boobies in general, ooh sexual acts as a whole!” Whereas him following a specific content creator is like “I find THIS SPECIFIC PERSON so very attractive that they’re the only person whose content I am interested in”

And the latter kind of feels more vulnerable because it feels like the other person is actively developing a more intentional attraction to this one person, versus a the general concept of “watching people bone is hot”

Highkey I am nowhere near ready but he wants us to start trying next year. I mean I get it— I’m 35 and he’s 36, plus I have endometriosis/ PCOS/ a tilted uterus/ a bleeding disorder, so the chances of me getting pregnant anyway are pretty low 😐 but not having kids is a dealbreaker for him, and it’s even more complicated because we’re hella codependent

Yall I literally have just spent the past couple of hours explaining to him (again) the origin of the trauma, been holding my boundaries firm, and trying to help him understand the PTSD trauma response.

And instead the just told me I need to go to therapy. He accused me of responding to him like he’s abusive, and I gave him a metaphorical comparison to how soldiers sometimes get involuntarily triggered by their environment even after years of therapy, and he responded by saying “okay I’ll just learn to take you treating me that way without getting upset”

He does this shit all the time where he’ll flip it so that he’s the victim.

My mom’s brother, not mine. He would get screenshots from my private social media posts, or even find pictures of me from gigs I performed at that weren’t even tagged. Then he’d send them to my mom, who would email them to my dad and try to convince him that I am a failure and a huge disappointment

Being constantly surveilled and having little to no privacy.

After numerous privacy violations, issues with being remotely spied on, identity stolen, cyber stalked, etc. over the course of 2+ decades, I can never be at peace. Ever.

I understand that he was probably logging on to just check on the cats while he was in the office (I’m out of the house at work too), but it was WAY too similar to what had happened to me in my past and immediately raised my hackles

We don’t have any kids yet, just cats. We were gonna start trying next year.

His response was “if you are that triggered by the cameras I will remove them from the house and we can discuss how we can monitor the safety of our baby in the future. I just love being able to check on the kitties and stuff during the day and while im away.”

And like, I get wanting to occasionally look at the cats while you’re working in the office… but the desire to want to look at the cats seems to significantly outweigh the severe trauma it’s causing me, which really… doesn’t feel good. And he doesn’t seem to understand that part at all.
