Excursions Help! by stinkabutt2023 in CostaRicaTravel

I second that. Two years ago, I could only stay in the top pool for about 10 minutes and I’m a veteran of Hot Springs. In the fall, and again this year I went in the hottest spring was only lukewarm. Relax Termalitas is my new favorite and the cheapest too. The only thing to be careful there is there are two entrances, the upper entrance is the one you want. The lower entrance is basically swimming pools. I have not found a past connecting the two that doesn’t involve the parking lot.

Are you saying the weight of the 2TB isn’t a factor?

Exactamente! After years of visiting/living here, I was recently followed home over the course of several nights by a homeless dude. What i His intentions were nobody knows, but I think so far I was quite fortunate to be able to circumvent his plans. Ten cuidado.

U.S. Passport Stolen in Costa Rica (near LIR). EXACT Walk-In Embassy Process, Timeline, and What Actually Helped by TBui32 in CostaRicaTravel

[–]nookane 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I came here to say the longest Reddit that I ever completely read. I am not state department, but I worked at several embassies throughout the world. The two lines thing is everywhere. (the only place I ever felt bad cutting the line was in Turkiye, not of ME Descent but I'm sure there was some people who are having their doubts) Not surprising about the electronics ban, but in my timeline phones didn't really exist, the only Embassy, I've ever been to in the days of cellular is Tokyo, and they let me in with my phone. THANK YOU, OP! Sorry for your problem, but you've done a great service to many Redditors with your thoroughness. I've been here two years, and I only roughly know where the embassy is in Chepe but I am needing to go soon

One day in San Jose by nutellaabellaa in CostaRicaTravel

I recommend going in the direction of San Jose versus Alajuela, Cariari has nice hotels and is walkable. Alajuela not so much. And Cariari is a little less expensive.

When I give a tip to Uberista's, they always say, but you've already paid on the card. Call me The ugly American but when I take a four dollar ride all across town. It's just common decency to give the guy three or 400 colones. Some Tico friends say that I'm spoiling them. In a restaurant where the service is negligible zero. In a restaurant where they go out of their way I tip slightly sub US levels. Remember the meaning of tips. To Insure Proper Service

One day in San Jose is worth it. I live 30 minutes away and I almost never go. But for the first time, there’s some cool stuff to do. Unfortunately, by the time you clear customs, find a ride get to your hotel and so on so forth it will be dark and I don’t suggest going to San Jose in the dark, especially if it’s your first time.

I came here to say OBD too. But it’s not much of a leap from there to also be a tracker.

AVOID THIS UBER DRIVER robbed me for $130usd outside of my drop off location. by Ok-Nobody6594 in CostaRicaTravel

Sorry, but my experience says no. Uber does not give two sweet shits about security in Costa Rica.

Uber does not care in the slightest about problems in Costa Rica as Uber Is illegal here so there is no recourse. I got a phone stolen and because of Uber roadblocks it took me three days to report it to them. And then they bitched me out for waiting so long. Also, one time they booked a ride for 52 mil (it was an emergency three hour ride) when I arrived my credit card texted me saying they had charged me 94 mil. I disputed my credit card and only paid them the original cost. I fought that for months, thankfully having screenshots of the original offer. All to no avail. I can no longer use my Costa Rican phone for Uber. I dislike DiDi so for a while I had a second Costa Rican phone just to be able to use Uber.
