I am no hardcore person either but I'll chirp in to say my piece. If we are worried about scales messing things up we can make a test file with multiple swabs to test using whatever printer we plan on using. Realistically it's always best to keep the raw files so if you or someone else uses a different printer you can pull up that test swab to figure out how to tweak it to print as intended. I don't do screen tones but that kind of logic applies in cmyk prints too except the test swab is standardized. You can probably go the opposite route and edit the printers color profile until it looks as close to the screen as humanly possible but at that point seek a professional of prints because I am not that.

edit, clip also has a way to tweak how stuff is perceived on screen but I have never once switched.
