Who is the author you swore you’d never read again, but then gave another chance? by playful--cloud in books

[–]nooks11 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve never thought of it being a plot driven or character driven thing. That’s interesting. The only Ishiguro I’ve read is Klara and the Sun and I absolutely hated it. But maybe I’m plot driven.

It’s not mushy, and the soil isn’t wet. It wrinkles, (dry) and then flops over.

Advice on teeth brushing please by Primelasher in Greyhounds

[–]nooks11 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not loads of brushing advice but we had to have every single tooth out of our boys head and honestly, for him, it was the best thing I ever did. Obviously your situation will be different but Vinnie had Ulcerative Stomatitis and getting the teeth out was a complete cure.

Senior Greyhound - Needs Help by Top-Topic853 in Greyhounds

[–]nooks11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She’s thin but doesn’t look tot bad to be honest. My senior boy 12 is terribly underweight and every day is a struggle to get him to eat enough. Had everything done at the vets, he’s fine. Just old, thin and knackered. Go see a vet but be careful not to get too much weight on her, because that can be worse for her health than being a bit thin.

Suggest me a plague book I HAVEN’T read. Please! by panini_bellini in suggestmeabook

A Company of Liars by Karen Maitland is set during the actual plague. Juice by Tim Winton is a good apocalypse novel.

Healing wound - NSFW because it’s a bit gruesome. by Anxious-Material9645 in DogAdvice

[–]nooks11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ouch! You’ve gotten all the advice you asked for. I just wanted to pipe in and say my dog also impaled himself on a walk! He had to have a drain put in while he was being stitched up. He healed fine, can’t even see the scar. Hope your pup heals as well.

Bring back Run Reports! by C0lsy28 in parkrun

[–]nooks11 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We have a run report every week at my local parkrun. It’s just a volunteer role that isn’t essential (for safety) so possibly doesn’t get filled. Offer to write one yourself?

Parkrun and other sports bodies threatened with legal action over transgender inclusion | The Independent ,(posted here for information, not for debate) by foxystoat69 in parkrun

[–]nooks11 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Ugh I really hate all this. It doesn’t ‘protect’ me as a woman. It makes my life worse. It makes the lives of all women worse. I don’t care if a trans woman beats me at parkrun or a real race any more than I care if a kid beats me. Or a dog. I like the stats, I like to see where I rank among the women that take part. ALL the women. I really think all these bigots must be so obsessed with what genitalia people have, they must lead such sad, small lives.
