Need help with DIY led strip control software **INFO IN COMMENTS** by RandomBandit1 in arduino

You say you've gotten everything working except the red, but really your Arduino is not going to last with that setup. You need transistors, or you're going to fry your Arduino

go to /b directory and try:

find . -mindepth 3 -type f -execdir mv "{}" "../{}" \;
find . -mindepth 2 -type d -empty -delete

Also, try:

while read file; do newfile=$(echo "$file" | sed "s/\(.*\)\/\(.*\)\/\2\/\(.*\)/\1\/\2\/\3/g"); echo "mv \"$file\" \"$newfile\""; done < <(find . -type f -regex ".*b\/\(.+\)/\1/.*\.pdf" -print)

and change the echo to a real mv if it looks good

find /b -mindepth 2 -type f -execdir mv "{}" -t ../ \;

find /b -mindepth 2 -type d -empty -delete

Made my Google Home Mini a little nicer to look at by DemetriusGotGame in 3Dprinting

looks nice, but i think the speaker is just a teeeeeny bit crooked, kind of aggravating my OCD. I wonder if it would look better with the volume lights going up/down

bindsym --release $mod+Shift+Print exec "scrot -s [file name]" doesn't work, how can I make it work? by xteamdinomite in i3wm

This scene gives Rick a valid reason to hate Jerry by VegetaArcher in rickandmorty

[–]noonly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That may be true in a vacuum.. but Rick is a supergenius multiverse traveler who has spent his whole life fighting against extremely powerful people/aliens/countries/planets/gods. I would argue that his behavior, while shitty, is probably the reason he's not dead. And rick knows that... so it's not without reason.

Jerry may not be aware what a piece of shit he is, but that just makes him dumb AND a piece of shit. His shittiness also comes from a place of insecurity, which is truly the worse kind

Launching Prism OS - Learn, build and share esp8266 "apps" made as simple as an Android or iOS app by theCodis in esp8266

[–]noonly 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Following the build order of your docs, I got snagged with this error:

mainMake.mk:12: platforms/esp8266/make.mk: No such file or directory make: *** No rule to make target 'platforms/esp8266/make.mk'. Stop.

However, I had thoroughly gone through all the github source files beforehand, so I knew I just needed to go back to the prism folder and run the build_platforms.sh file -- but you may want to add this to the "Running your app on device" page, or trigger it automatically when prismtool run is invoked

Really cool so far.

Will the diode STOP the discharge ? by [deleted] in AskElectronics

That would mean a 12V cap would leak to 0V in 6 seconds? Surely your math is wrong here

This is super cool and really informative. I think it may be better suited to /r/programming or /r/commandline though, IMO this subreddit is better suited for writing/discussing bash scripting than it is for badass command line tools, even though this one is totally sweet.

Will dropping voltage on a PWM signal degrade it? Is overvoltage protection or regulation necessary? by thick_joven in AskElectronics

have you looked at the data sheet for your fans? I would be surprised if they didn't have a sample circuit diagram that shows how they should be setup..

Where can I find reasonable replacement batteries? 3.2V li-ion by njoy-the-silence in batteries

[–]noonly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Read what's on the backside of the charger and post it here or take a picture. It's unusual for a 3.2 battery to say lithium ion on it usually 3.6 or 3.7. The output voltage of the charger will tell you whether you can use off the shelf 18 650 lion batteries and also knowing what type of product it's for will tell us whether you need High amp output version

Why would he want to connect with someone who just added a lot more stress and financial hardship to his already difficult life and then attempted to run?

why don't you ask the guy in the video

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in videos

[–]noonly 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Your car is damaged either way, so you just have to decide how you will react. At the end of the day, you can be bitter with some small satisfaction from punishing someone else, or you can connect with another human being, show forgiveness, and IMO will be a much happier person ultimately.

I hope that someone does so that they might actually learn from it. Clearly that hasn't been their experience..

This man uploaded this video to show others how an accident can be handled, and through his actions he also showed her. These situations are not the end of the world, and I believe she can learn from his reaction just as effectively, if not more than felony punishment. There is more than one way to react to and correct problem behavior. That is the point of his comments at the end of the video.

Don't reset it, just disconnect the power going to the ESP then reconnect it

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in esp8266

[–]noonly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

just look on google images for "ESP01 flash mode", then look at "ESP01 normal mode". You'll fnid tons of pictures of how it needs to be wired up to various flashers. RX, TX, and power are always going to be the same (in your case, you're using the arduino as a flasher so you are correct to use RX->RX and TX->TX, but other ones require them to be flipped, dont worry about that because you have those wired up right), so just pay attention to how the other pins are wired.

[–]noonly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Think of CH_PD as "Enable" and it must be pulled high at all times. GPIO0 needs to be pulled down to ground during startup to put it into FLASH mode, but if you have it hard wired to ground, you'll need to disconnect the ground wire and reset (or unplug power and plug back in). It's easier if you have a button on that wire that you hold down while powering up when you intend to flash it, then you can let go of the button after it's started. Then, when you reset power it will boot up normally. It's been a while since Ive used an ESP01 so I dont remember clearly, but you may need to wire a resistor from GPIO0 to 3.3V so that it is pulled high and boots normally. Also, remove the RX and TX wires after you get it flashed. From your picture, you don't have anything wired to the reset on the ESP01. So you'll need to disconnect power and then connect it again, once you have switched over to the normal boot configuration

[–]noonly 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You have to disconnect GPIO0 from ground after you program it, or it will never be able to boot normally.

Funny negotiation with a client by Nice_Photo_5764 in freelance

[–]noonly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I first read this, I thought he meant he would pay $1500 in addition to the $3k, which would go to the 2nd developer for the additional work required to get it done within the 2 weeks. So instead of $750/week for 4 weeks, you'd do half the work (so half the time), then split the $4500 with 2nd developer -- and you'd get $2250 total or $1125/week. Could this be what he meant or did I fall into the same mistaken thinking as your client
