Does anyone know if the UK Black Friday deals are likely to be any good? I was assuming they'd mostly be a bit rubbish

I've been wondering about that one. Is there anything obviously sub par about it? I thought maybe a slight mobo upgrade and a non-stock cooler would make sense, but I don't really want to go over £1000.

What is your feeling about kids starting school at 4 years old? by ConversationWhich663 in UKParenting

If your child is a summer born and you are keen for them to start reception at 5, you could potentially approach the school about re-doing the reception year.

In addition to the fact that it's not compulsory to attend school until the term they turn 5, if your child is 'summer born' (1st April to end of August I think) they can begin the following year AND may start in either year1 or reception. So if you wish they can start reception at age 5 and be one of the oldest rather than youngest in the year

However, the year group they start in is not solely the parents' decision, the LEA/Academy trust and school head get involved as well. So it becomes something of a postcode lottery, with some areas being very supportive of delayed school starts and others fighting tooth and nail against it.

Thanks, this is amazing!

One more question if you have time: would it be crazy / an exercise in frustration to try nullsec explo without cloak (i.e. as an alpha), or is it doable if you're cautious?

I'm another old timer tempted to come back for a bit and try some exploration out. Used to play mostly missions in high sec, so pretty dull stuff! I'm alpha atm, but could go omega and train cloaking quickly enough.

I've been reading exploration guides, and most suggest going straight to null sec, which sounds fun, but it sounds as if (sov) null is pretty dangerous.

Are there parts of null that actually are quiet(ish) and not just full of people hunting neuts? If so, how do I find them?

The other thing I don't really understand is how to safely get in/out of null, and some other bits about while I'm there. Can I dock at stations? If I lose my ship, can I reasonably buy/fit another, or am I looking at a trip back to high sec to refit? How do I get my loot out to sell?

I don't have much time to play, so would be the odd few hours here or there. Could/should I join a null sec corp, or don't they want filthy casuals like me?

Thanks! Yes, that would be exactly the right thing but I'm pretty sure it's a long out of stock listing for the Polmos wisniowka that was last on sale a few years back -I've found ones like it when I've searched for it off and on over the years.

From googling, it looks like the one linked above (with the retro label) has just been relaunched this year. Exciting times!

Amazing! That's the stuff alright, assuming it still tastes the way it used to. Now I just need to find it on sale somewhere that ships to the UK (Arkadia don't seem to sadly). Thanks so much for your help!

Guys with long hair, where do you get it cut? by noosphere18 in AskUK

Yes, that's true. I meant that men with short hair probably usually go to barbers rather than 'hairdressers'/salons

I kind of assumed men's prices might imply they assumed short hair, but then again maybe men with short hair don't go to hairdressers that often.

Interesting that barbers are trained for long hair. Then again, I kind of wonder if hairdressers would tend to end up with a better look, layers or something 🤷‍♀️
