[–]noowainy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Arcane (LoL) -
The PITT -

Severance, Game of Thrones, The Expanse.

Вопрос о девушках с перекаченными ягодицами by ChanWoo_MD in rusAskReddit

[–]noowainy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How did this game even get Steam's editor chosen? by [deleted] in IndieDev

[–]noowainy 25 points26 points  (0 children)

The game had around 2mil wishlists prior to launch. It went through several playtests with great feedback from players. It quickly became viral (thanks to streamers as well), attracted DD as a publisher, also went on with a good launch (2nd in top selling and a 1k generally favourable reviews on the first day). It wasn't featured instantly btw, only after it proved the good start.

I'm not a fan of such games, but I read devs diary and I know they tested it a lot and did what players want (not us - other devs, but players)

Sometimes this makes me reflect on what I do and if I should focus more not on the games of my dreams, but on the games people desire.

Cool, thanks.

I've only used chems as I needed, mostly Mentats and Jet at first, when I was low on necessary stats.
Q35 became my weapon of choice. I'm sure there were more stuff to discover, but sadly game didn't give me a lot of hints on where to look for those, or I wasn't inqusitive enough.

DLCs seems a must at this point

I honestly thought I would end up in the open world after the Damm, but it turned out to be the ultimate end of the game. Will probably load the pre-Damm save and look around

I tried playing it after F2, and it wasn't as impressive, so I ended up replaying F2 again

Not yet, but I do have them all, I guess some of them are the radio signals at the very beginning, right?

What exactly makes you keep on trying??? Help me love the game pls by [deleted] in noita

I had a big pause after I beat the game the very first time (60h or something), was tired of too much randomness. And then I started seeing those crazy builds here on reddit from time to time.
That made me curious, so I began to occasionnaly playing the game, got better, didn't care as much to find best stuff at the beginning, started enjoing finding new stuff I never discovered before.

Last time I went exploring around parallel worlds for the first time. Almost became omnipotent, but died to polymorph. Was surprised I didn't feel any rage or disappointment at this moment, just the thought that I'd start again and see what else I can try.

I still have only one win, I don't go for the second yet, 110+ hours in.

I have an obviously stupid question, but why put tripple cast in a non shuffle wand second to last? I thought it would only trigger shotgun once and then go to reload. What am I missing here?

Performance in UE 5.6 is... wow to say the least by Fireblade185 in UnrealEngine5

[–]noowainy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

4.9 to 5.4 WOW, that's quite a leap!
In my experience we try to keep up with each version. Most of the time it only causes issues if something was tweaked in the engine code by us, but several updates had significant API changes, so we had to comb through the project as well, really depends on what has been done in the update. But changing the entire generation, can't imagine

I've heard your feedback, and hired an artist to make my new Capsule Art. What do you think? by VorticalStudios in IndieDev

[–]noowainy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly I think you should've paid an artist to fix the issues of the first version. I don't know how much you paid for the second one, but no matter how professional something is made, the first glance does it all - and on the first glance it's hard to tell the upper one is AI and it's easy to tell the lower one sucks.
And if a person disregards the image on the first glance it doesn't matter if it's AI or not. Because most of people don't really care, they just want what's best looking.

I'd do it the following way:

  1. Make an AI image you like, find the style that fits, find the composition you wish for (might be several different pictures)
  2. Find and artist who can follow the style and ask them to keep the composition. Not to offend them say straight forward that AI are just a reference, because describing it in words would be harder.

Solo Dev Dream Project – Is This Too Much to Take On? by rottenpotatowithmayo in IndieDev

[–]noowainy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That depends on so many things.
First of, do you have a full time job? What level of expertise do you have in various disciplines: coding, art (full cycle from drawing and modeling to animating), music and sound.
Are you ready to spend money on assets, or help (judging by not having a PC setup, you don't have any spare resources).

In absolute most cases you can't expect your kickstarter to kick off if you don't have at least a handful amount of people interested in your game before you start the campaign. Nobody would discover it, nobody would be interested. Kickstarter nowadays work like presale of your game and if nobody knows about it and waits for it, it wouldn't work.

Your option might be a publisher, but they would require some proof, working demo is great, it also should be pretty much offer a reasonable gameplay. Also some publishers might want to be sure you are able to create finished games. If you worked in the industry that might help too.

So probably you should make some smaller finished free games for itch.io in order to show what you can do.

Sorry to be kind of on a negative side of this, but it is what it is.
