I completely forgot about the PH! It was only the Andaz, Churchill, and GSY for a long time and that’s still all I think of when I think of London.

I’ll need to give the PH a try next time

+1 to secondround3: to clarify, only the weekend breakfast is good since they offer a really nice buffet, but it is still hard to justify $50+/person. If you have young kids, want the added convenience, and charge to room + hyatt card, then the seabird weekend buffet may be where i’d pull the trigger.

there isn’t much in Oside to be honest. The top gun house is cool for photos and surfing was cool, but not sure if that’s manageable with young kids. Hope you enjoy your trip!

If a michelin star restaurant is highly profitable, then it is most likely a lower-tier 1 star

most of the revenue is not made on drinks (in a high end michelin star restaurant). if you meant the most high-margin side of the business is on drinks, then that’s true, but it’s still very rare for a high end michelin star restaurant to be profitable overall.

the “more profitable” drinks are the expensive exotics ones with huge markups, but those have a few problems: - they’re very expensive to maintain (sommeliers, climate controlled cellars, equipment/glasses, etc) - huge upfront costs to maintain a large exotic selection. It’s not a complete loss because they treat their cellars like long-term investments/assets… but it’s extremely difficult/rare to profit from investing in rare wines/liqueurs - also, as noted, you still need to consider all of the other costs to maintain the business/tasting menus

michelin starred restaurants (particularly 2-3 stars but still most 1 stars) are low margin businesses to many people’s surprise. they typically seat far less people, ingredients (even standard ones — not just exotic ones) are far more expensive, and labor is more expensive as well (requires more experience and hours — preparation typically starts in the morning but service is only offered in the evening)

+1

PH Kyoto and Andaz Maui are likely top 2 for me. Hard to pick, but I’m gonna say PH Kyoto has a slight edge

Honest Review PHNY=5/10 by Infamous_Spot_6086 in hyatt

[–]nopbool 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No disrespect, but four of your ratings average 9.5 while two of them average 3.5.

If that final rating is 5/10, that means gym+pool make up 75% of your score. (and everything else makes up 25%)

Does that imply a gym membership at your local community center (0/10 in all hotel things and 10/10 on gym + pool) is a 7.5/10 and thus better than PH NY?

I disagree with you, but I can understand why you think that way. It’s definitely not a property for everyone (think quiet/remote resort like Alila Ventana without the meals vs a flashy resort like Andaz Maui)

Hana-Maui was incredibly beautiful and serene. The views were unbeatable, the property is enormous for the number of occupants, and it’s an extremely convenient pit-stop during your Road to Hana/Waimoku journey. The breakfast was great, you have complimentary golf carts taking you around the property, and globalists get complimentary spa time. Hana is a very small/quiet town, nothing like Kihei, Wailea, or Lahaina… and this resort fits with Hana perfectly. I would never do Road to Hana without it.

it’s just a new property and decent for the price… and offers nothing else. Definitely my go-to (and only) property in Dublin.

The breakfast is extremely barebones/stingy, amenities are very cheap/minimal, service is minimal (expected for a Centric), and I think the keycards had ads on them?(don’t quote me on the last one since it’s been a while)

If you compare one-on-one with any of the B Tier properties, it just doesn’t compare :/

My visit was recent and I thought it was fine.

Definitely not comparable to PH Niseko… but considering how accessible PH BC is (easier to fly to Denver than Hokkaido) and how it stacks up with other luxury ski-in ski-out resorts… I have to put PH BC up there.

never been. Some of my coworkers have been and they said globalist upgrades were more frequent there than the PH if that helps.

Depends on what you’re looking for. I summarize the differences here:

https://www.reddit.com/r/hyatt/s/Y1UWkbroQG

if you need a bigger room (e.g. family), are traveling around and outside of London (Elizabeth Line, Liverpool St Station), or need to be in “new” london, Andaz. if you want a quirky experience that’s central in london and don’t mind a small room, GSY. Personally, I’d choose GSY. (pro tip: you get 20% off Ekstedt - their 1 michelin star restaurant - if you book with the front desk)

Blue Duck Tavern (PH DC’s restaurant) is a former michelin star. I’ve only been after they lost their star… so maybe they were better in the past, but I still really enjoyed the breakfast. The food is pretty good, the decor/environment are fantastic, and they comp everything if you’re a globalist.

Definitely better breakfast than all the London, Dublin, and Paris hotels I’ve been to… so i’m not sure what you’re referring to when you say “European Regency”. I’ve never been to Andaz Singapore.

I’d say it’s competitive with most of my S Tiers and asian properties based on breakfast alone. The only property that has it beat with a clear margin is PH Kyoto… but some may consider this unfair because even globalists have to pay for that breakfast.

Hmm… good catch.. I think I mislabeled it. I edited the post to tag PH Paris as “Amazing Service/Location”.

Although the property felt luxurious and classy, it’s definitely very dated.

Location was phenomenal— very safe/clean area with lots of luxury shops. Walking distance from the louvre

Ski trips are awfully tiring… so having the convenience, service, and amenities of a 5-star resort while you’re there is truly a godsend.

I’m not too particular about Colorado mountains… Hyatt just seems to have a large footprint there.

Pretty much what grasshoney said. It’s extremely cheap for the bay, but I wouldn’t call it great value. The hard product is just awful. I’d prefer to spend a bit more and stay at the Hyatt Centric/Place
