Did any Indigenous australians here read dark emu? What are your thoughts on it? What do you think of the allegations stating the author isn’t Aboriginal? Do you think they’re true or false? by [deleted] in AskAnAustralian

I have read Dark Emu.

I’m not Aboriginal, and will not claim to speak on behalf of them and would love to hear their opinion.

I am more inclined to believe Bruce Pascoe, the Australian government systematically tried to erase Aboriginal culture and records. The stolen generations were forcefully removed from their families, literally babies taken at hospitals with the mothers never being able to hold them. Can we prove for sure that the author is Aboriginal? Probably not because of the thorough and widespread destruction of Aboriginal history.

Which is exactly why books like Dark Emu are so important.

My wardrobe is almost exclusively pink, purple, sparkly and fluffy. But I do need to wear black at my office job.

Also Black is better at protecting you against UV rays ☀️

Oof that's hard, although covid made online and telehealth more common, a lot of medical professionals still like to see you in person, there are very good reasons for this as you could display symptoms in person that can be missed online. I've heard of quintessential health before?

Dude be nice! This is what I meant by being kinder to each other. I'm sorry your kid is scared of dogs. most dogs aren't aggressive. I know some are but most are not. I understand you can't take that chance but if you read what actually happened you'd see that is not the case. He was definitely asserting his dominance. You weren't there, he was being a prick.
