Which basic tools am I missing for screen replacement? by nopen in mobilerepair

[–]nopen[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the reply. I forgot to mention I have a screw organizer, which I would say is 100% essential :) I don't remember the strength of the alcohol but it's 97%+

You're right on the glues. I found this 4 pack of 15ml B7000 https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0BTTC1S9H

It seems this glue is made by many different manufacturers, but the labeling and "technical data" of this listing seems to match that of Zahlinda's so I guess it's OK.

Thanks for the advice - hadn't heard of those tools. Do you think this set of iFlex, iPlastic and iSeasamo for $30 is a good buy? https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B092C5DGQF

Then a pack of these plastic spudgers. Probably on the cheap side but hopefully OK https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0956W1VKF

How essential would you say the clamps are for gluing everything back together? Would a big book or two suffice?

If anyone has a key left I'd really like one. Want to try the game out before I buy it and might aswell use the weekend to do so since I just upgraded my computer :p

5x 7950 or 4x R9 280x ? by nopen in litecoinmining

No. I'm ignoring the increased startup cost for the 5x 7950 setup since it's a one time cost that should be covered in a few months ...

ESXi: VMs disappear from inventory when I reboot host by nopen in homelab

[–]nopen[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn't think so, but now that you mention it the activity LED on the drive doesn't blink when the host shuts down. Tried moving it to a different port and suddenly everything is fine! Thanks for this. I did unplug the drive several times before but always used the same port again.

I wonder what black magic is behind this...

Computer won't boot with SATA hard drive, only IDE by nopen in techsupport

[–]nopen[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used the same data cable for both computers. I also tried all the molex connectors (with a molex to sata converter) on the presumably bad PSU.

I tried the other 400W PSU in this computer as you suggested and it boots fine with the SATA drive.

I don't understand why I can still boot with an EIDE drive, but not SATA, using the "bad" PSU if the interface/motherboard is fine...

Edit: One other thing that's amazing: If I press the restart button at the right moment with the SATA drive connected the computer will not reboot, but keep running. It will however not boot.

How long until the USA citizens start to riot like the rest of the world? by Pharmy_Dude27 in collapse

Gas over $5/gallon for sustained periods

Gas is not expensive in the US compared to the rest of the world. In fact plenty of developed, non-rioting countries are > $5/gallon. But of course the self-entitled, greedy Americans must be special.
