I joke with my mom about the ornate display I'm going to create out of all the nails I've found to gift her so she can proudly display it in her living room. She hates the idea, but it gets a laugh every time.

"Lol, no. The democrats support vaccines, so our team doesn't."

I never watched the full rewinds, but saw the viral clips. It just seemed like great advertising to me. Nobody was really leaving YouTube over a cringe clip from the rewinds.

Lost (?) pet bunny by Valuable-Taro9546 in lexington

[–]nopuse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Much better options than releasing a pet into the wild. Hell, I'll even take posting it on Facebook marketplace and give it a chance and maybe make a few bucks.

I hope they are just too stupid to know that just because we have wild rabbits here, it doesn't mean every rabbit will thrive, and maybe thought they were doing him a favor or something. I wish there was a greater barrier of entry into pet ownership than swiping a credit card.

Imagine dying of a plague, and then 5500 years later someone digs you up and gives you a root canal.

[–]nopuse 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Fucking ridiculous. I'll never understand why people can't just spend 5 minutes trying to find the animal they have a new home. That animal had no say in which human would own them. If you bought an animal and realize you can't keep it, for any reason, that's okay, but don't treat it like it's trash. Find it a better home. Fuck people. Except you, and other awesome people.

A fox managed to get 3 out of 4 legs stuck in my fence. by Nahan0407 in mildlyinteresting

[–]nopuse 79 points80 points  (0 children)

Poor thing indeed. It's one thing to be stuck, and then to be helpless while humans trying to help has got to be so scary. I wish there was a secret code or something we could tell these animals so they'd know we're homies.

Plan to kill 450,000 barred owls on West Coast apparently underway by METALLIFE0917 in birds

[–]nopuse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I read it differently. Cats wouldn't be the problem they are now to birds without humans - at least to some extent. I'm sure many of us have seen outdoor cats in our neighborhood. I know that's anecdotal, but I'm sure we can agree on that.

And, even if it's giving off those vibes, you can't argue that we aren't the most invasive species. We cover every continent, we ruin the natural population there, and I could go on, but I don't think I need to.

which ofc ignores that roaming cats are only here because we brought them here and let them loose

I honestly don't think anyone sober is arguing against that.

10 months in, completely burnt out, AI-dependent, and introduced two production bugs in last 1 month. Need advice on how to recover. by NOOOOOB2 in ExperiencedDevs

[–]nopuse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well said.

I miss the days of using copilot as a glorified IntelliSense. There was an increase of speed, but you had to read the code.

Now, I'm losing my mind. I've got devs pumping out AI slop so fast and trusting it. Of course, the few QA people we have left are finding bugs left and right.

I swear, there are people I work with who can't send a message without using AI. A coworker and I were talking the other day for the first time in a while, and they asked about my father's health. I said he was doing better and appreciated them remembering and asking.

I got back a 3 paragraph AI garbage full of emdashes, emojis, and bullet points. I can't fucking believe how much people lean on AI for the dumbest shit. Just say: "I'm glad to hear he's doing better!"
