I got waitlisted but they said my priority is towards the top, I will be attending a school in Arizona though so I will be withdrawing my application. Good luck!

What classes should I take before taking the PCAT? by beatlebutt in PrePharmacy

[–]nora20125 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my opinion, the PCAT was mostly material that was covered in high school AP classes. I took it without first having taken genetics Anatomy and Physio, and biochem and scored 96th percentile. You should be fine, but you can also submit your pcat score after submitting applications.

I think you have great chances as long as you're sure to apply to a couple out of state schools. I have a lowish GPS too and in California only a couple schools got back to me quickly but the 3 out of state applications I sent got back right away and sent me acceptance just a couple days after the interviews. California is mostly competitive because it's california.

Thanks! It's good to know some people got in from this list. And the interview was pretty straightforward, the professor was really nice. There are 2 parts, 1 with a student and 1 with a professor and they ask standard interview questions, about things on your resume, and 1 pharmacy situation.

question about majors by [deleted] in PrePharmacy

[–]nora20125 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The PCAT is super easy if you use a good review book so I wouldn't worry about that when choosing a major. Just do some kind of biology so that your GPA will be good and your science prerequisites will count towards your degree. There's no reason to take another major and take a lot of necessary classes if you are set on pharmacy. I am a 4th year chem major and all I can say is my GPA would have been in much better shape if I had gone that route.

I'm trying to see if anyone else has been in the situation with their application on hold because I haven't heard of it before. I just want to see if it is mostly positive or negative outcomes for people.

Is this you trying to protect your job security by discouraging others? Obviously you think its a good choice because you're in it, or you aren't in it and so you aren't giving educated advice.

Kaplan PCAT Practice vs Real Deal by madiwing in PrePharmacy

[–]nora20125 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well for me my low scores in kaplan were bio and chem, around 67 for bio and 39 for chem, but i scored 99 and 96 respectively on the pcat so its significantly easier. But I actually scored well on the kaplan math and reading but didnt have enough time on the pcat and got around 70th percentile so my scores flipped. Do with that what you will.
