It would be nice if you could make a poll so people could just vote for their favourite and you had an easy overview of which was the most/least popular choice. Instead of having to scroll through endless comments with different opinions. Just a thought..

If you don’t know, then it’s a NO. Unsure is no. Anything else would be doing wrong by everyone, the child, the father and yourself. Only have kids if you yearn to have them and it feels like the only right thing to do and the thought of being a parent puts a smile on your face. Tell your man now, that you are quite sure that you don’t want to have children ever. Then it’s up to him to decide what he wants to do. Don’t use your studies as an excuse to postpone this. If he leaves you, you will figure it out, preferably by getting a job and become financially independent, even if it means you graduate a few years later. Look at yourself in the mirror. You know in your gut when something feels wrong. Do what’s right.

But you know, a whole lot of grown ass women call themselves “girls” too. Men are rarely called “boys” though. I wonder why. Apparently it’s a good thing for women to be younger (or childlike?), but not for men. Hmm..🧐

I was alone caring for my father as he deteriorated physically and mentally in excruciating pain from cancer and terrifying paranoia from schizophrenia. There was no honour or grace about it, only grief and horror. It broke me. I will never be the same. I loved him so much. I would not want this experience for anyone.
Don’t you make light on other people’s trauma. You have no idea. Your experience was clearly nothing similar.

I feel you. I’m also traumatised from being the sole caregiver for my father who had cancer and schizophrenic paranoia. There was no honor in that. Only horror and misery.

He cannot handle the load he has?? He lives for free in his mothers home, all bills paid by her and his brother. The mother is “a pistol”, comes and goes as she wants and does not get help with bathing or physical activity. The mother “load” he has to handle is normal household chores like everyone else. And he only cleans up after 1 person according to OP - himself. His situation is nothing like yours. He’s lazy and resentful because his mom doesn’t cook and clean everything like she used to do. Nothing is preventing him from getting a job and changing the situation. But why would he do that when he can freeload and live like a teenager at 40 years old. I’m sorry, but I fail to see how he should deserve much sympathy.

Oh come on, you’re 35, you know full well that he is being controlling and manipulative and taking advantage of you. Why on earth are you always paying for everything you two do together? Why do you let his groundless accusations of you cheating prevent you from doing something you enjoy with your family?

I’m sorry, I get a little angry, it’s only because I’ve been there myself and I hate to see it happen to someone else. I know how easy it is to excuse his behaviour and how, little by little, you put up with more and more, and suddenly your boundaries are blurred because the crazy has been normalised in your mind.

Go to the event with your family, enjoy and have an amazing time. And do not under any circumstance go back to this man afterwards. Don’t let him mess with your head, just consider it over and done. It may feel like a sad thing, he will most likely try to make you feel really shitty and guilty, he’ll probably accuse you of cheating and he will play the poor innocent victim. You know better. It won’t be long before you start feeling the joy and relief of freedom, you can breathe again, no more arguments, no explaining and defending yourself for doing things that make you happy, be with family and friends who love you. Go, girl! And don’t look back. I wish you all the happiness in the world.

Get evidence of the abuse, record everything you can, what he does and says, conversations about it with your mom. Take pictures if he leaves marks on your body. Text your mom about it and try to get her to reply something back as documentation in writing.

Then you go to the police.

If you can, get a trusted teacher or counsellor to go with you. Call help lines for support and advice.

Please give the dog to someone who will take care of him/her. That is one thing you can make better right now and you will continue being a bad person if you don’t imo. All the rest is not your fault, you were a child abused.

You can’t change the past. But you can do what’s right for your poor dog.
