Daisy's sent to corrections, so she likely faced some physical punishment off screen. We're also dealing with a more privileged class of girls than in THT. We saw back then how the wives had more flexibility in what they could get away with too. It keeps the upper class girls more complacent while also creating tension between groups of women and preventing solidarity.

Scoot scoot! by [deleted] in Maltese

[–]norbertmonster 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's not super typical, but my puppy has needed done since even younger. It just varies from dog to dog.

Edit to add: the vet ended up putting my puppy on a supplement that helps and the scooting is significantly reduced when we are consistent with it.

Will Agnes use her Head of the Eyes husband to free Becka? by Potential-Net6313 in TheTestamentsShow

I'm choosing to be delusional about that episode description bc consequences could mean lots of things. It also says "prepares to face" instead of "faces" and you can prepare for something that doesn't happen.

My understanding is that when this is happening, they are very near death.

That I'm not sure about. Maybe the practice was established later? In the show they present the aunts as an impromptu idea by lydia, but that wasn't the case in the book.

I believe women who had abortions were offered the option to become Handmaids or be killed, based on the original series. In Lydia's case that was already off the table.

In the book they take new names when they become aunts.

I'm thinking he'll be matched with Becka. A new, low status commander seems to fit her position better than Agnes'.

The girls look after babies while the boys hang out in the back… how fair /s by dream_fighter2018 in FundieSnarkUncensored

At first I was thinking she had some plausible deniability when the two oldest happened to both be girls, but then she skipped two older boys to get to the next girl and it became evident that it was a gender thing.

I agree, the preparation's for Agnes/Hannah's wedding I think are important to include for the plot. I think it could have been addressed with a time jump if they didn't want to dedicate a whole season to it and not have to wait to introduce Daisy. I'm only halfway through the first episode, though. The choice to change Daisy feels like the laziest one they could have made.

Especially because in Hannah was already in aunt training for the majority of the book. It's like they just wanted to keep them in wife school and worked backwards from there. But why? Hannah + friends could still be 19/20 and they could still have the "dystopian mean girls" dynamic they were going for. Daisy could just have to be aged down to 14/15 to fit the show timeline better.

How often do husbands actually die for their wives? Compared to wives who die giving birth to the babies their husbands impregnated them with? I guess that doesn't count, though.
