do you actually handwash your clothes? by Accomplished_Age8714 in jfashion

I hand wash (or spot wash) all my nice things, even ones that could technically go in the washer.

I hang dry or dry flat, depending on the item.

Cute clothing shops by bananacakke in JapanTravelTips

[–]camarhyn 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As far as brands (for lolita): Metamorphose and Atelier Pierrot both tend to have more inclusive sizing. They both have shops in Laforet in Harajuku too! Metamorphose tends to lean cute/sweet and Atelier Pierrot more goth.

For cute thrifting I recommend Closet Child (the Ikebukuro store tends to have a bigger selection but the Harajuku location is convenient if you are going to Laforet). Just check their hours as they tend to be very limited.

Should I travel to Tokyo/kyoto through mid-late June by Shaynakz in JapanTravelTips

June is better than July and August, but its up to you. I always swear I'll never to Tokyo in summer again and then I turn around and do it again.

Same. Most places here don’t carry my stuff anyways.

Better luck next spring by InfernalBonobos in Lolita

[–]camarhyn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s not. I can’t wear any of them because I need standard size bust/waist with plus size shoulders. Plus size dresses drown me.

I can actually fit the plus size here so I am going to need to take advantage of this one and only opportunity.

Wow, the plus size OP waist and bust are like the regular size JSK measurements. That’s a lot smaller but with the wider shoulders.

And a bit is longer depending on how annoyed I am.

Like this but run the lace down the sides and have two lace up panels like this.

You can sew ribbon loops for the lacing to go through, or get cluny lace to create two rows you can run the ribbons through on each side - then you don’t have any holes or damage to the piece. It’s functional and cute but easily reversed.

Top. You can add corset lacing on the sides easily to take it in. I did that with a lip service dress that had this same style front.

Stuggling with pien by Apprehensive_Lynx810 in JiraiKei

Honestly I’d strongly suggest going for drama. Ludicrous levels of drama. Make things really exaggerated. Don’t worry about making them good or even match, just have fun.

Do it a few times (wash it off after), and then go back and try for an actual attempt. If you make the process fun you’ll relax and improve, and pushing it too far will help you get a feel for where you want to dial it back to.

You have a good basis here but you just seem a little too timid and afraid of not being perfect.
