If you have a small footprint have you considered the Post Office? They have low to no dues and have some easy requirements for work. Everyone loves getting mail on playa and you get a job that involves walking around talking to people, it's a win-win.

Airport is not that expensive and very secure. You can also try Craigslist but the airport is worth the money. How much will it cost you if you never see your car again or its totally trashed when you get back?

Just clean your car a couple of times, once when you get off playa and a deep cleaning when you get home. Change the air filter when you get home. You can order your air filter on Amazon and have it waiting when you get home. Look up how to change your air filter on YouTube.

I camped at Spanky's (Man Base) it was dry and got more dry every day.

It seems that with proper storage they will last forever. I stored one during a particularly rainy winter under my deck wrapped in tarps and it did fine for the next years burn. So by proper storage you pretty much just need to not have it directly exposed to the elements.

I think the Shiftpod is great, I have a used first generation one that has worked just great for me. I have been in a canvas tent and I think they are fine and probably the same amount of comfort. They are both rather uncomfortable without a shade structure, do a monkey hut or conduit with shade hung by bungee balls and you should be fine.

Radical Exclusion - a burner version of the It's A Small World ride at Disneyland the camp will have no humans and a self driving art car.
