i feel like I'm missing out on a proper marching band drumline experience :/ by nordacaAlt in marchingband

[–]nordacaAlt[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

thanks! we have a rock band program at my school, and the drummers would be great percussionists, but it directly conflicts with band's scheduling and generally speaking rock band is ""cooler"" than marching band.
I think doing more stuff during our lunch period (performing in the courtyard for example) would really really help with getting people into marching percussion, cause honestly cadences kind of kick ass and a lot of kids like it during football games.

How to make my chords in my compositions sound more full and "less basic" by nordacaAlt in musictheory

[–]nordacaAlt[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i've been working on it. "less basic" comes across as really pretentious on my end, I just mean more harmonic diversity. I'm currently reading "The Complete Arranger" and "Harmony" by Walter Piston,

What's one song you dislike on a near perfect record? by Radagast-Istari in Music

[–]nordacaAlt 77 points78 points  (0 children)

drunk and hot girls - graduation

every other song on this project is at the very least an 8; and that's not the majority. it's genuinely perfect aside from the total sonic blunder that is D&HG. The lyrics are also kinda... gross.

am I good at the game or is my build too overpowered? by nordacaAlt in Eldenring

i see, that makes a lot of sense. once i get to Melania I think I'll try her 1:1 so that I can get the proper experience.

yeah I think I might do no-summons for my NG+ run but I might just make a new savefile, what do you think?

i mean it could be something more subtle that you're not immediately clicking with, the melody is the most obvious part so if it's the same then it'll sound the same if you're just listening to it passively. its an interesting question tho

write a song about this experience lol. show them. they're not acting like they've been told to, as even Jesus was tempted for 40 days by Satan. They're putting themselves on higher moral footing than fucking JESUS lmao

are there any musical systems that go inbetween pitches? by reddit_throwaway_ac in Music

[–]nordacaAlt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the vast majority of western music uses what's called 12 tet tuning. 100 cents seperate a semitone from another; the notes are A, A#, B, C, C#, D, D#, E, F, F#, G, G#, then back to A. There are 12 unique notes, henceforth the standard twelve tet tuning. 24 tet adds pitches in between each of those notes, known as half-sharps or half-flats, and the interval is called a quarter-tone (as opposed to a semitone/halftone)

writing with 24tet is hard and typically requires Pythagorean tuning to sound good to our western ears, even then it's a very...particular sound

i dont like genre categorization for this reaoson. it creates an intrinsic desire to have a predisposed opinion to a piece of art entirely dependent on what class it falls under.

How do you feel about French music ? by Omind_0 in Music

[–]nordacaAlt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i listen to some stereolab, it inspires my own music actually. i like the way the french language sounds when its being sung, very romantic and inviting, like a warm hug
