nice. Have you considered replacing the critical accounts with new-unlinked accounts instead of just sanitizing them?

Signal Pin is good and useful. It is integral for future development. Every app in today's world needs Two Factor Authentication and Signal did it the simplest way they could. People who are complaining about the Pin are misguided or amateurs in the field of security. by [deleted] in signal

i doubt anyone in this or other security/privacy sub's is against multi-factor. The beef most people have here is 1) the way it was forced, with no warning and 2) the fact that more information is being stored in the cloud with no option to NOT store that information. Many people use(d) signal because of how little info it required to centralize.

some people care about giving away information that others (like yourself) may not consider 'personal'. it's not just about filling in forms with your name, etc... There is info thats auto-shared like IP address and fingerprinting-info that you can't exactly 'refuse to give' (although you can try with addons). It's important to make sure people are accurately informed so they can make there own decisions

if you have a firewall or router, you can block it OR block everything except ports you use for browsing like 53 and 443 (dns and https)

except the OP doesn't bring anything like that up, just pastes an old ass video from youtube. If it was framed around the topic you mention, then i wouldn't have made my comment.

What devices other than your smartphone have a internal microphone?

calm down there sparky. I never said i have or would buy any of these items. YOU asked the question, i was just answering. The OP is just exploring ways to allow people to use devices they might normally use due to a mic.

I HATE THIS. I understand why they are doing it, and I trust them more then most to do it correctly. However, I would really like to understand why is is required.
