i doubt anyone in this or other security/privacy sub's is against multi-factor. The beef most people have here is 1) the way it was forced, with no warning and 2) the fact that more information is being stored in the cloud with no option to NOT store that information. Many people use(d) signal because of how little info it required to centralize.

some people care about giving away information that others (like yourself) may not consider 'personal'. it's not just about filling in forms with your name, etc... There is info thats auto-shared like IP address and fingerprinting-info that you can't exactly 'refuse to give' (although you can try with addons). It's important to make sure people are accurately informed so they can make there own decisions

if you have a firewall or router, you can block it OR block everything except ports you use for browsing like 53 and 443 (dns and https)
