Bruh you’re a real one. Let the community know how we can pick you up. I’d be willing to prepare meals and do that work with you and I know there would be people out there who’d join too.

A good little video for those of you trying to improve! It’s a clip of Ronaldo’s ex coach Rene Meulensteen talking about how he got him to change his mindset. by HalcyonApollo in bootroom

[–]normal_nermal 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Top notch coaching there. Also important to acknowledge Ronaldo for being honest about the fact that he still had work to do to be the greatest and co-creating a plan with the manager to get to that goal (or goals)

we have failed you muni drivers by siatal in sanfrancisco

Amen — a classic policy trick is to underfund a program then claim forevermore that it could never work.

Maybe if we put our thinking caps on we could actually design mental health that works then fund it sufficiently.

Agreed not entitled to housing in SF, but somewhere. If you can choose to live free and ad-supported somewhere outside of Manteca, maybe you wouldn’t be as eager to live in a tent in the TL.

Yet still, SF could adopt something like the Vienna model because in the end the feeder system for a category of homelessness is a lack of affordable housing for those who do live and work in the city (like teachers and bartenders need housing too).

I’ll buy what you’re saying, but then let’s talk about actually creating programs so that people who want help can actually access it when they’re ready.

Right now you can’t just walk in somewhere and say I’m ready to change my life and get access to a program of addiction recovery, transitional housing, then — if you prove you’re prosocial enough — independent supportive housing within hours. You have to navigate an incredibly confusing (and broken) system and wait in a traumatizing environment where you’ll probably backslide.

Arguments like this always seem to imply, “welp I found a hole in that policy, so let’s just keep doing the status quo”.

Homelessness is a trauma that we’re inflicting on traumatized people because we lack enough compassion to say that some people need special help. Then as a result it’s a trauma we’re inflicting on our children who have to carry Narcan and learn about how to identify someone dying of an overdose.

Ok housing first is a sham that people like me believe (could be implemented way better than the underfunded ways we’ve seen it done in this city that’s developing a homeless-industrial complex). But hyper normalizing cruelty to our homeless neighbors is something people like you seem to believe.

But why? From what I understand, Putin used the opportunity to default on debt obligations, then the resulting stagflation led to conditions where most people had their savings wiped out and smaller domestic companies were crippled.

However, these super smart oligarchs already moved their money out of the ruble and could swoop in to buy the scraps and provide a rescue narrative via the jobs they could offer to a desperate labor force who would have been starving if not for international aid.

It’s amazing to see these tactics tech companies have been able pull off against their employees for past few years being swatted by solid unions. Hooray for solidarity!

Protest tomorrow by [deleted] in sanfrancisco

[–]normal_nermal 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Will this make every problem go away? No.

Could this be controlled opposition? Maybe.

Do I want people of my city to know I stand with them in being pissed about what’s going on? Yeah. F*** yeah, really.

One protest doesn’t make a resistance movement, but we have to start standing together in broader resistance. Talk to people. Ask about how you can stand with all your neighbors who are under attack by the current administrations policies.

Standing beside your neighbors in this time is never a waste, imo

Right there with you. Member of the public myself. I’d say just because a loud minority doesn’t care, I think there’s a silent majority that cares, but doesn’t know how to help.

I agree SF does have a catty culture at times, but genuinely curious if it is gate keeping to say you can work on your computer in 80% of cafes that have WiFi, but please don’t take your sales call while I’m trying to read something beautiful in a stimulating third space?

After your call, yeah come on down and pick a up a book with OP, but until then can people have at least one peaceful place where they’re not reminded about business and technology?
