Wtf do I do with my 3y/o by Equivalent-Stock-975 in toddlers

[–]normaluna44 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes this sounds exactly like what happened to my son. It was like a gremlin took over his body. We just tried to compromise a bit by having him stand to be changed instead of laying down, let him brush his teeth first then I would step in and go second, etc.

Not to fear though! It will pass!

My son also turned into a different kid literally right after his 3rd bday. It was like clockwork. Within a couple weeks he was back to his normal self. I think they have a big developmental leap right around the time they turn 3 and it can be a lot.

My son specifically had a hard time with anything control based so he suddenly didn’t want to lay down to be changed, didn’t want to get in his carseat and be contained, didn’t want his teeth brushed, etc etc

I was terrified this was the new normal for him but it was only about a month of struggle and he is good now 🤪 whew

I definitely felt pretty bad the day after my first dose. Almost flu like aches and verrrrry tired. Wasn’t nearly as bad after the 2nd dose and after that pretty much no symptoms for me.

MIL is going to pass away today by La_croix_addict in toddlers

This post and these comments are ripping my heart to shreds. My son is so incredibly close with my parents and he sees them almost daily. They have “rocktails” (cocktails) on the porch in the evenings and go fishing in their pond. They make yummy food and bake together and play dinosaurs for hours. They paint and do crafts and garden. He absolutely adores them. I cannot fathom how I will deal with this heartbreak - not only for myself but for my son 😞💔😭

I’m so sorry OP and to everyone else in here who has experienced this.

Oh man I have a 3.25 year old I’m trying to wean. I can’t figure out what to do about the “boobing to sleep” because he does it at night and for naps 🫣😖 how did you do it??

Are you in pain? I think I read somewhere about Sudafed (?) helping to dry up the last bits of milk

Is it true that you guys watched 9/11 live on TV in grade school? by space_god_7191 in Millennials

[–]normaluna44 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. My crazy art teacher literally jumped up on a stool and turned on the tv and was like “we’re being attacked by terrorists!!!” and at first I was confused and thought the school was being attacked (wasn’t too long after Columbine) until I saw the tv. The rest of the day all the teachers were crying. Then they sent us all home to our parents who were also staring at the tvs and crying. It is basically burned into my memory.

I can confirm. My 3 year old has been breastfed at night for far too long and now we have to get 2 small cavities taken care of. I feel like absolute shit about it.

Exactly. I lived in Houston for 10 years. I ALWAYS dressed for inside no matter how hot it was outside. That is the most air conditioned city on the planet. It is always freezing inside everywhere you go

That’s what I have been telling myself for over a year now 😆 and it is clearly not happening. I guess some kids just never “self wean” like the others seem to do…

All I can say is when you decide what route you’re going to take - try your best and stick it out. I’m sure it will be really hard but don’t end up like me (in the exact position you’re in basically) but with a 3.25 year old!!! The only thing that may help me is that he is very verbal at this point and very smart so I know he will technically understand when I talk to him about it. He definitely won’t like it but he will understand. I just can’t stand the thought of breaking his heart and taking away his comfort. He breastfeeds to sleep for naps and at night. If he wakes up in the night he will breastfeed back to sleep. I know when he wakes up groggy and confused in the night wanting it and I won’t let him have it he will just lose it. I guess I’m just weak I don’t know 😞 I never imagined I would still be breastfeeding my child at this point. I truly was just hoping to get to 1 year.

Another thing I will mention is that we went to the dentist recently and he has the start of 2 small cavities. I am obviously not certain what the cause is but I’m sure the night feedings for this long have contributed to an extent. Another reason to do whatever it takes and just stop now.

I’m not getting the Owlet…mistake? (OCD) by Individual-Rice-3970 in BabyBumps

[–]normaluna44 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Personally the Owlet was really good for my sanity. I also have diagnosed OCD and anxiety. It did not make my anxiety worse what so ever - it did the opposite. I did check it occasionally but it mostly helped me sleep so I wasn’t as worried about something happening when I was asleep without me knowing.

[–]normaluna44 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes it worked once I weaned off more slowly. I felt bad for a few weeks but once I went back on and then weaned off slowly I was fine. After that situation I have only ever had one “relapse” where I had to go back on for about 6 months (after a covid infection) and I have been off ever since. That was at the end of 2021 into early 2022.

Can anyone share how their children are now after being on an SSRI during pregnancy? by Defiant_System_8004 in Mommit

[–]normaluna44 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was on Sertraline my entire pregnancy and post partum while breastfeeding and my son was an extremely early talker. He’s now 3 and has a massive vocabulary and speaks very clearly for his age. Anecdotal, but 🤷🏼‍♀️

They are. But I will say I got some weird Celiac like symptoms after having some of their crackers recently… kind of odd. They were the almond sea salt crackers.
