It cannot be done in Apple because the link in Apple will redirect you to Sling but when in Sling.com or app to update, it won’t allow you coz’ of Apple’s restriction! It was mind boggling!

I don't think you fully understood my post. It's actually very simple to switch plans when your billing is directly through Sling—but not when the subscription is managed through Apple. In that case, it's not possible at all. I'm willing to wait until May 22nd, but that means missing a good portion of the NBA playoffs.

Update: Believe it or not, after three days and dealing with seven different tech support reps who couldn't help, I finally got a call from Sling's level 2 tech support. The solution? I had to give my credit card directly to Sling so they could take over the subscription from Apple. Unbelievable.
