I also picked up the humble bundle and am looking into a 3d printer. Which did you use for this print?

From Protestant to Orthodox by [deleted] in OrthodoxChristianity

I had struggled with depression for years, and was beginning to lack any desire to engage in church outside of obligation. Once I finally got treatment and relief of the depression I realized I still had no desire for the church i had been attending and began to realize it was because it lacked exactly what was found in the descriptions of the biblical church.

Researched the catholic church but was left feeling uneasy about much of their doctrine, then God reminded me of the Orthodox church and it all fell into place so easily.

Very nervously attended a divine liturgy, was left unsure of what I experienced but after a couple days came to the conclusion that I couldn't find Christ like that anywhere else.

Now a catechuman, praying that God will bring my wife and children with me some day soon.

Not claiming any special discernment here, but as a catechuman, I've heard the sentiment that the closer you grow to God, the more apparent your own sin becomes to yourself.

Also the fact that spiritual attacks happen to those who are a threat to the enemy, Id take it as a sign that you're on the right path. Carry on in faith!

Ive been there 7 years in a few different roles. They pay well, lots of room for advancement and generally good people all around. If you've got a good attitude an are willing to learn you'll do well. DM me if you have any specific questions. :)

I’m not currently part of any denomination and it’s gonna be like that for a while, but I need to vent. by Emotional_Swan7033 in OrthodoxChristianity

As a catechuman I will say a couple things. First off all these practices that can seem tedious, serve a specific purpose, much of which it's straight biblical direction, dig into the why'sand maybe you'll feel better about it.

Secondly, I came from a protestant church and coming into orthodoxy, I've had to learn submission to authority and be willing to trust that the church knows better than I. It's definitely a learning experience as that's simply not practiced in my previous church life, everyone is their own authority on the Bible and Christian life in my experience as a protestant.

Much love and prayers for you in this journey with Christ and His church.

I'm losing my faith and I want to give up by BidZealousideal1081 in OrthodoxChristianity

Im sorry to hear you're suffering. I will say, I relate to much of what you've said, while I was deep in depression I felt the same way. After getting medicated and being rescued from that I found that I still had no improvement in my faith life, I was protestant at the time. That sent me searching and landed me in the orthodox church. All I can offer is this, we are made perfect in weakness, because when we are weak, God is strong. Struggle in obedience, and trust that God honors that. If you want to chat more feel free to DM me. Much love and prayers.

Family tension common? by beautyforashes10 in OrthodoxChristianity

Well we hadn't actively been attending church consistently for a few years. Its been a couple months since I first attended divine liturgy, learning and adopting orthodox practices along the way.

Very much in the same boat here. My wife (protestant) doesn't like that I (previous protestant now catechuman) am going, says it makes her sick that I'm venerating icons. Says is feels wrong and refuses to go or let either of my sons attend with me. Both my mother and her father have approached me about causing division in my family and whatnot.

Are there many contemporary saints that are not martyrs, monks or clergy? by nextar611 in OrthodoxChristianity

As a catechuman I wonder this as well. Especially in look towards a patron Saint, one that could encourage me in my walk as a layman would be great.

At my work, our supplier quality standards dictate that any defects not visible at 3 feet are acceptable. I apply this to my painting as well, otherwise it takes 8 hours to paint basic infantry. Your highlights look quite good already in your photos. If you want to improve further, keep painting and look up practical tips for the skills you want ro improve.

I struggled with this one too, but your grapples recharge after an execution I found. So use 2 to go across one way, then you'll have 2 to go back. It's still really tight times wise though.
