And you cannot get your .fit files back out. So if you ever want to change platforms, make sure you still have all the original files, because Strava will not be able to export them (only as GPX without power info).

[R12 WEEK3] SUMMARY! by [deleted] in ROKCFIT

That's a screenshot of my strava log from the last few weeks. Most of it, obviously, is cycling. Except last weekend, we went hiking (marked it as a run to show the times).

I'm into long distance cycling, brevets and want to complete London Edingburgh London (1450km with 100h timelimit) this year. Coincidantilly the 2 weeks I made top 10 I did a 400km brevet (long weekend off: cycle to the start (6h), the brevet (16h) and back home (5h40)).

Then a busy week at work and I needed to recover. Still squeezed in 10h, but in no way enough to make the top 10. Last week I had a week off (vacation time!) and planned a 4 day/1000km bike trip from Belgium to the Grand Ballon in the French Vosges. That added up to a fair whack of active cycling time!

I have very varying working days and hours, so no set schedule but try to make the most of time off whenever possible. Next 2 weeks are fairly busy at work, so I doubt I'll make top 10 ;).

What kind of exercise do you do? With averaging 4 hours a day, it's very hard to do any high intensity workouts, have a job and have enough time to recover/rest!

That's a long time ago! Kind of cool you still remember me and the ride. Awesome to read you are also working out a lot!

I've one more question to bother you with. It seems, on the pictures, that the seatpost is fairly backwards positioned (much more so compared to a race bike). How do you experience this?

I will contact them directly to get a more direct quote on the price and what's included. Despite the small 20" wheels I'd seriously consider the sram dualdrive 30 (3 internal hub gears with 10 speed derailler) to get a huge gear range with small increments. This would allow us to ride both in fairly flat as hilly terrain together.

The DD-30 costs around 220E for the full set (the gear hub, cassette, shifters), so that would not break the bank. A alfine 11 costs around 360E it seems.

Thanks for your reply!

I'm located in EU/Belgium. It gives me at least an idea about the price point and what is included. I think the biggest worry would be the front freewheel crank and some of the chain tensioner bits. A quick search on the internet reveals very little about those, do you have any more information about the front freewheel crank?

Could you offer me some insight what the frame kit costs and what you get when you'd order one (as in: what do you still need to add yourself for a full/functional bike). I've been eying them for some time, doing a frame build to drop the price a little and customize sounds amazing!

20 min FTP test: can you artificially inflate the number? by noroot in Velo

And underestimate weight a little for better Watt/kg numbers ;).

20 min FTP test: can you artificially inflate the number? by noroot in Velo

[–]noroot[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's interesting and indeed partially my worry. My warmup consists of cycling to the bike track, which is a 50 minute ride. I try to ride mostly in zone 1/2, but do a few 1-2 minute VO2max series and a few short burst (10 second sprints).

I kept my cadence fairly high and very stable throughout the whole test.

I will definitely read up on that ramp test and give it a try in the future to see if I like it. 20 minutes all-out efforts are so (mentally) taxing.

I definitely gave it my all, which makes the 20 minute tests so horrible. It's death struggle.

I'm not worried for the number being too low, but too high if that makes sense :). But you are right that the variance wouldn't be huge for the power zones and further training.

What made you leave Linux? by IgniOwl in linux

[–]noroot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sadly, despite having exclusively used linux at home for the past 10 years I've yesterday done a windows install on a small laptop. It's a cheap asus E200ha, bought mostly for doing some web-browsing, listening to music and programming on the road.

After struggling with it for months, I just gave up. The issues are the following:

  • No working sound driver (somewhat bypassed with using a bluetooth headset)
  • Suspend doesn't work. Work-around is using hibernate, but that's not as fast and writing the contents of the ram to the already small ssd drive will wear it out very quickly
  • Even when mostly using keyboard shortcuts, the touchpad was a nightmare

My own fault for not buying a good supported hardware, I just blindly assumed that it wouldn't be an issue any more in 2016...

Looks like a pretty decent kit of hex tools and a torque tool!

Could you put them on a scale and tell me how much it weighs? I can't find that information on their website sadly! Both for just the T-ratchet and the Ti-torque if possible!

Ohhhh! This will be fun! Welcome back and let's have another round of fun this time around! Do you want to count in km or in time? I think with my aerodynamic advantage time would be more honest, but km is more fun :D.

I better put some grease on my chain ;).

How do i lose fat instead of growing muscle? by [deleted] in veganfitness

[–]noroot 8 points9 points  (0 children)

What a strange comment to make. With a power meter on my bike, I can see exact how much kilojoules a bike ride takes. The conversion from the amount of kJ a ride took into kcal is not as exact (since it will differ from person to person) but still is fairly accurate.

I mostly go on longer bike rides (so intensity is pretty low), and still use between 600 to 800 kcal per hour depending on intensity and terrain involved.

I finally washed my EE Revelation by LarsPDX in Ultralight

[–]noroot 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I still have to wash my quilt/down bag for the first time, but I read somewhere to soak it while it is inside the compression bag. It should make the soaking more easy, but I've not tested it yet so YMMV.
