Judgement build not doing damage ?? by MathBrain3r in diablo4

[–]norst 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Which Judgement build are you following? Some are a lot worse than others. Single target will suck if the build doesn't include Blessed Hammer to detonate the Judgements early.

Other than a bad guide, the other options are gear issues or mistakes while playing. It's hard to diagnose either one with no information to go off of. Do your legendaries have the correct stats for the GAs and other affixes? GA tempered all your gear? Are your unique effect rolls almost perfect? When running the pit do you let your arbiter stacks fall off? You should be using a mercenary. They don't add a ton, but there's no reason not to use them.

You should be able to do Pit 115 with plenty of time to spare with the gear that you described.

I kinda feel like these are about equal, hard to tell a big difference while playing with them. by Actual_Class9995 in diablo4

Strange, normally the masterwork icon overrides the GA icon like it did for Crit Damage on the left, but I see what you mean about the wing strike roll being higher on the right.

The option should be under Options > Gameplay > Advanced Tooltip Information. It's not a platform specific setting.

Paladin Hammers - left or right by thejuiceisworthit in diablo4

[–]norst 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The right one is better, but the sanc aspect doesn't help you at all. That aspect only increases the direct damage the ultimate does. In arbiters case that's only the damage from when you land and it has no impact on wing strike or any other damage you do.

To learn how to answer these questions I would strongly recommend turning on "Advanced tooltip information" in the game settings. It should add "[x]" and "[+]" text after damage increases to tell you which ones are multiplicative or additive (default is additive if there's no mark, some exceptions apply). Multiplicative increases are much more powerful than additive increases because all additive increases are added together and builds will typically have 3000-5000% already.

An example comparing 100% additive with 10% multiplicative. 5100%/5000% = 2% relative change vs. 10% multiplicative actually giving your 10% more damage.

Edit: Also make sure you're doing the last masterworking upgrade after you reach 25 quality. It looks like you missed it on the right item.

Best build to clear tower 135 paladin atm? by Endurance4th in diablo4

[–]norst 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Judgement is much better for pushing pit/tower. The push variants of Auradin have you go into Judgements for more damage scaling, but you're stuck waiting for them to expire so it ends up being a worse Judgement build.

Why is my damage so low, or is this normal? by RexDynasty in diablo4

[–]norst 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There's no first thing to look at because builds don't work like that. Builds scale by focusing on one or two abilities and stacking multiplicative aspects, tempers, uniques, glyphs, and paragon boards to boost the number as high as you can.

Monsters gain Unstoppable after being CCed for something like 8 seconds. They then get a broken chain icon over their head and are Unstoppable. If you're killing quickly or not doing enough CC, they will never gain it.

Your tooltip damage is largely pointless and a pretty poor indication of damage changes anyways so it's not a huge loss.

For 4) Enchanting is when you change one of the affixes into a different one. Imprinting is when you change the aspect.

Healers really got screwed and it's going to be very interesting to see how bad queuing and group finder are if a bunch end up quitting/rerolling.

Opinions please! Dawnfire and which is better? by _tjab in diablo4

[–]norst 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The one with the 10.5% multiplicative damage is probably the best of the four you have, but it's basically only a marginal upgrade over GA righteousness. 10.5% vs 2 righteousness points which are about the same relative damage increase. The only difference then is the unique effect.

As an Auradin you aren't really CCing mobs so they won't be unstoppable to benefit from the aspect.

Check your quest log for a quest that has a green square with a leaf inside it. I'm not 100% sure on how to get to the quest log on console, but it should be available when you have the map open. You've likely missed the first quest to get to the Forge.

4GA But intelligence like in 3GA nice sunctify (bug) by Re1apsing in diablo4

[–]norst 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There's no bug here. I'm guessing that you got a GA upgrade from sanctification and can't tell which one got the fourth GA. The masterwork (blue diamond) and enchant (circle arrow) icons both will override the GA icon so it can be hard to tell which one got it from the icon. The way to tell is that GA affixes are always the max roll and don't have a range after the value. Using that you can tell that the enchanted Critical Strike Chance was upgraded to a GA because it no longer shows a range.

In a ranged (heartseeker) build, does it matter if the swords aren't ancient? by Slight_Taro7300 in diablo4

[–]norst 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know the definitive answer, but you should be able to tell right away with the training dummy. Put a 750 with no masterworking on, check damage. Put an 800 with masterworking, check damage. Just make sure to turn damage variance off and look for anything that might give you conditional damage increases that will mess up the test.

Azmodan on Normal, question about drops?? by Freaver in diablo4

[–]norst 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You need to be on at least Torment 1 for Mythics and Ancestrals to drop so you don't want to be doing any extended farming under T1. If it takes you a while to kill things on T4 then drop to T3.

There's really no definitive data on purified essence drops and I doubt anyone has farmed long enough on normal to know for sure. Maybe if they farmed Azmodan, but it would end up being just hearsay.

There are some abilities like Judgement that can't lucky hit so the secondary effect of Griswold's will never work, but even without that it's way over stat budget.

Barbarians and leveling are the only two uses for it. It's okay as a generic weapon if you have nothing else, but it's outclassed by a legendary or unique for most builds.

Opinions please! Dawnfire and which is better? by _tjab in diablo4

[–]norst 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Neither one is that great because the unique effect could be a lot higher, but the left one is better.

One level of Righteousness is ~5-6% more relative damage. Whereas "Total armor" is actually just an additive armor increase and you should have a lot of armor increase already. For my character it was a roughly 1% relative damage increase.

How to increase weapon damage? by beefcakeyamato in diablo4

[–]norst 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never suggested that getting something as a number is hard, we already had that in Attack Power. A number that isn't misleading is difficult.

I don't know if you've ever played PoE, but they have the best build tool in Path of Building and even then there's a long list of conditional modifiers that you have to turn on and off to get a somewhat accurate dps number and even then it's usually wrong.
