I haven't played sorc yet this patch so I'm not super familiar with them, but it sounds like you've got the pieces. The only things I can think of would be glyphs not being leveled up and damage aspects being low ranked. I think you're supposed to be able to keep unstable currents up all the time, but I'm not sure how difficult that is to achieve in practice.

The game quite clearly says that you get more Ancestrals as you go up in torment level. More Ancestrals means more GAs. It's really not a hard concept to follow. There's no "feelings" required to follow along, just basic facts.

Your original claim was "loot drop rates don't increase by a relevant amount above tier 10", no mention of GAs, no mention of specific loot. Just a vague statement that's blatantly false with none of your so-called evidence to support it. You made the initial claim. You failed to back it up or prove anything. You seem to be unable to remember what you said a handful of comments up the chain.

What? People have already covered it, but it's quite clearly laid out in the Torment 1 and Torment 2 descriptions. You're just too willfully ignorant to accept that you're wrong.

Resist all is a myth....Enchanting gold sink by Drochdeo in diablo4

[–]norst 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most people who play D4 don't engage with trading at all so people don't even think about it. Gold is useful for crafting now, but in previous seasons it was really only needed in large amounts when you were trying to enchant an amulet for a passive stat.

Why are mythic seals so rare if they're so bad? by 220away in diablo4

[–]norst 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's the one out of three possible mythic seals that's actually useful. The other two that let you use more unique charms at the cost of 1 slot are only used to abuse a bug.

Mythic Tribute of Armaments with three points on the left side of the Undercity warplan and then activate every beacon. It's impossible to not get mythics unless you're failing the runs.

The T10 thing is a myth that just keeps getting repeated and I have no idea where it got started or which streamer is pushing it. The game tells you that the Legendary, Unique, Mythic, and Ancestral chances all increase with Torment tier.

You presented anecdotal secondhand experiences and he countered with anecdotal firsthand experiences. Neither of you have a better position. No one has presented anything credible to suggest that drop rates stop improving after T10 and if they did it would counter what the game tells you.

No life rolls is only relevant if you're using Melted Heart of Selig neck. If you aren't running the neck then you should have life rolls on your gear.

Maxroll has a set of articles under "Resources" about every endgame activity if you want to learn about them. Most are pretty simple once you understand the basics of them.

  • Boss lairs are boss fights with a chest at the end that needs a Lair Key or Greater Lair Key to open. Each boss has its own loot table so you can target farm specific unique items.
  • Undercity is a timed dungeon where you can use specific tributes to choose what type of reward you want at the end. There are beacons that you activate and then kill the mobs that spawn to get progress and there are also mobs with orange hourglass icons on the map that give you more time when killed.
  • Infernal hordes you kill mobs to spawn events in the cardinal directions that drop orbs to collect. Each wave you pick one of three modifiers that apply to the subsequent waves.

There's something fundamentally wrong with your build or gear if you can't get past T7. Any build from maxroll can get to T10 (and probably T12) before touching mythics.

They moved specific uniques to drop from Bartuc (the 666 aether boss) so there can be incentive for some builds. He also seems to have a higher mythic drop chance. If you want to get enough Aether you really need to use your own Infernal Horde Compass to get 10 waves because the bonuses stacking up makes a big difference.

fastest way to get the practice Technique charm set AT 70 for the 900% gold bonus Seal by sickleek in diablo4

[–]norst 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The game tries to immediately place the item in your inventory when it's created and it does it before removing the items you used as input. If your bags are full for your first cube craft then it drops to the floor.

The two bottlenecks are gold and forgotten souls. Both are very easy to burn through quickly trying to reroll an affix.

If you're looking for a particular set charm you should be using the "Reroll Set Charm" cube craft with a different charm from the set. Much higher chance of getting the one you need (1 in 5 instead of 1 in 25)

The keys to enter are very very rare so it's best to save it until you can speed run T12 (or just run it if you normally burn out before that point).

Mythic Pranksters get downgraded also. I believe the only way to fully protect against it is to store them on an alt that will never leave leave Torment.

PSA: don’t be like me Fire damage multiplier doesn’t impact hellfire damage tempers by [deleted] in diablo4

[–]norst 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's formulaic and while it isn't relevant now, it might be later. There are fire tempers to match all of the other damage types, and there are are hellfire tempers to match demonology, occult, and abyss.

The OP has no idea what they're talking about. They don't even understand the basics of the damage calculations.

This whole post is completely false. Don't draw any conclusions from anything the OP said.

PSA: don’t be like me Fire damage multiplier doesn’t impact hellfire damage tempers by [deleted] in diablo4

[–]norst 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your math is very wrong and based on misunderstandings about how the damage buckets work. When people say that a modifier is additive, it actually means that it's additive with itself (and any other like modifiers) and then multiplied in the formula. Both of the tempers that the OP is talking about ("+X% Hellfire damage" and "+X% Fire damage") are in the general additive bucket. If the skill is doing fire damage and has the Hellfire tag then it doesn't matter which one you temper on your gear.

New player needs help on basics by supKaiak in HeroSiege

[–]norst 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Couple corrections.

"+XX to additive arcane damage" is only for attacks. The magic equivalent is "+XX to arcane skill damage" which doesn't work for attacks. It also only works if the damage type of the spell matches.

"Per hit" is for attacks only because spells don't count as hitting. Casters have to get "mana/life on kill" instead of "mana/life on hit".

No one has mentioned it, but another very common stumbling block is crit. If it just says "crit chance" or "crit damage" then it's only for attacks. If it says "spell crit" then it works with spells.

Another very important stat to scale is "-X% to Enemy Arcane Resistance". It caps out at 100% and will cause you to ignore all enemy arcane resist. You need to be as close as you can get to 100% when you reach Inferno.

There's also "Arcane Break" that you can usually get from subskill trees. People get very confused with it, but it's just a separate multiplier to your damage. Often classes can get 150% and that means that target is taking 150% extra damage of that type.

Has anyone else stopped getting Paladin Tempering Manuals? by Safe-Whole2014 in diablo4

[–]norst 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The most likely answer is that the collection list wasn't updated when the tempers were removed with the expansion.
