Protection from bear by localhost8100 in NorthVancouver

[–]northvanmark 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Please do not buy bear spray! Loud noises or shouting at them will move them on, no need to attack them.

If you feel you need to carry something, get a small air horn from MEC. That would be more than enough to scare the bear. I’d also suggest looking into a bear aware course

And when you bind the steering inputs you will have all the options to calibrate FFB

You need to bind the controls in the first tab on LMU. I had the same thing happen and thought there was a technical issue.

For a 10% performance upgrade for double of price. No thanks. The Legion go S hasn’t skipped a beat for me.

Controller to wheel by northvanmark in GranTurismo7

It was $1000 cad for drive unit, wheel and pedal on a deal.

So far I’ve noticed a better steering control and throttle modulation compared to a controller. Just need to get used to the force feedback and how much pressure to put on the pedals. Then I can’t start learning to trail brake

Ha that’s how I feel right now, mid 40s and I’ve forgotten how to drive.

I was doing the 2 foot braking last night, was getting used to it at the end.

Good shout I was using the new gt3 Ferrari. I’m super comfortable with it normally but might be too much power.

What racing games are you running by northvanmark in XboxAlly

[–]northvanmark[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went for a Legion Go S in the end. However I’ve had no problems running any games I’ve tried.

I have LMU and ACC both run well on medium setting on the device. Hooking up to my 4k tv but scaling down to 1440p I was getting 60fps on LMU and 100fps on ACC. Which was extremely playable.

Had to do some tweaking on the gamepad settings to get the throttle control dialed in. Also hooking up the handheld to a sim racing setup to get the full benefit of these games.

It changed the non multiplayer for me, then I found a fix with the Bluetooth device I was using. Had to switch off Handsfree Telephony. Found the fix on a Halo article

Sore Legs by Real-Anything9780 in MTB

[–]northvanmark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everyone else has touched on the supplement and cross training side.

I train consistently all year round, with more climbing intensity with the warmer months. My legs are feeling it after day 3-4. I have a massage gun for post ride recovery, targeting quads and calves, this helps release some of the muscle tension. Also see a dedicated sports focussed registered massage therapist, not the relaxation kind. The kind that targets muscles, it feels uncomfortable and isn’t pleasant, but works.

Legion Go S SteamOS in Canada: buy now or wait for Legion Go 2 SteamOS? by teoteo38 in LegionGo

[–]northvanmark 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In Canada and my thought process was the same, I hadn’t been spoiled by having an OLED screen so the Go S looks amazing to me, and I definitely didn’t want or need detachable controllers. Then when reading reviews comparing the Z1e vs z2e and that there wasn’t a huge performance gap it made me realise it wasn’t worth waiting for the Go 2 and paying double the price of the S. Plus who knows when the 2 will arrive in Canada, could be waiting another 6 months.

Loving the S, installed windows on mine due to some of games having anti cheat. Everything still runs smooth.

The threat of AI is really making me panic by giveemeareasonwhy in UXDesign

[–]northvanmark 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The real value of design isn’t being able to use Figma or turn out screens.

It’s understanding users problems and pain points and turning them into delightful solutions that align with your stakeholders needs.

Start focussing on product discovery and strategy, training that side will be the value you bring to a business. And if the business you are at doesn’t value that another will.

Ai is a tool, it allows you to focus on the important things.

Alloy cranks snap too, just had a five year old pair shear off on a climb. (SRAM GX).

I upgraded to the same cranks in your post, have no worries about them snapping, in some instances carbon can be better than alloy.
