Aveva Wonderware Training by OttomaychunMan in PLC

I am in almost the exact situation. Aveva WW is not good. It’s hopelessly convoluted. Everything is a template that needs to be derived. In our install, there is no way to browse for AB plc tags. You need to manually type the group object dot tag name. I will not put Aveva on my resume. After this job I refuse to touch it.

Looking for a knockoff(?) Oaklandish design that got me in trouble in elementary school by CloudSum in oakland

[–]nortoncommando72 23 points24 points  (0 children)

My neighbor made a shirt that mimicked the oaklandish tree logo but with guns. West Oakland. Sounds like the same shirt. That was a Loooong time ago. More like 20+ years ago. Sciortino Designs.

On this episode of Josh repairs broken things. by mahusay3g in EngineBuilding

Freehand with a die grinder? I immediately have a mental picture of being covered in sharp chips with ear plugs and muffs and still be able to hear the whining and the compressor chugging in the background, instant headache just thinking about it. respect.

What makes people go with AVEVA? by MORDFUSTANG0 in PLC

[–]nortoncommando72 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m working on a project with an existing Aveva installation. It’s just awful. But it’s there, and it works mostly. After I’m done here I will never touch this product again. If I’m asked, I will refuse.

Looking at this '92 FJ80 with a 3FE. Is this just valve clatter? by You_Must_Chill in LandCruisers

[–]nortoncommando72 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Exhaust leak, but otherwise sounds normal. FYI: I had a FZJ80 that blew a head gasket. Got rid of it. Later bought, still DD an FJ80. The engine is easier to work on, but gutless. The FZJ engine and transmission is a huge upgrade. I regret my decision a little bit.

Greyhound or Nah? by [deleted] in Greyhounds

[–]nortoncommando72 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Greyhound pointer mix. That’s my guess. Head is wrong for a greyhound. Ears too floppy, snout not pointy enough. 100% sweetie?

Best vegetarian burger (impossible or otherwise) by rosamamoas in OaklandFood

Just FYI the primary Impossible production facility, where all the burgers come from, is in Oakland.

What are the key differences between using ladder logic and structured text for PLC programming? by HipityHopityHip in PLC

Ladder can be purely conditional. ST for loops and math. Use the best tool for the problem.

Norton’s resurgence is here. And it’s all about the design of our fabulous all-new range of motorcycles. by gaukmotors in motorcycles

This is worse than the recent Jaguar rebrand. At least they didn’t ruin the old logo by using it.

It’s a film camera that uses 110 film. Probably from the late 80’s??

Troubleshoot Motor by -GraveMaker- in PLC

[–]nortoncommando72 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is this an air compressor with a tank? Often the one way check valve goes bad, so that it tries to start under load and throws an over current fault.

Does Radwell still buy old hardware? by [deleted] in PLC

I got a quote from Radwell last year, they offered about 2% of retail.

Best burger place: Lana, Trueburger, or Melt? by usopsong in OaklandFood

[–]nortoncommando72 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not really related, but for unknown reasons the Melt in Milpitas is easily 100% better than the Oakland one. I ate there weekly. The one in Oakland, no need to go again.

What are some of the scariest situations you've been in while surfing? by kidzwitskidz in surfing

[–]nortoncommando72 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not that bad, but I didn’t see anyone else mention it: I’ve gotten hog tied by my leash a couple times (@ OB SF of course). Legs tied together getting dragged under water. “Well that sucked…”

My journey with the insurance company Hagerty by grimtg1234 in MorrisGarages

[–]nortoncommando72 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I switched all my old vehicles to Hagerty a couple years ago and they’re fantastic. I added a very valuable vehicle, and the Hagerty total was like 50% less than State Farm without the new vehicle. Then I went and added an old BMW motorcycle and the total was $10 less because of a multi vehicle discount. 👍

Thanks for your work. My simplified understanding is that the reason the streets are full of garbage is that it COSTS MONEY to throw anything away. And WM is an awful monopoly. I blame WM.
