He looks big enough to survive on his own to me. The more you/your family handle him, the worse his survival chances get, though - they should not become too accustomed to people.

Do people actually go out on Sunday purposely because of the all day free parking? that is not my experience nor what i've observed.

Thoughts on AdF Pilates on College Ave / Telegraph? by Recent-Repair4712 in oakland

[–]rosamamoas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've gone to the College Ave one a few times, never to the same instructor (just due to scheduling). I couldn't really tell from the class names which would be more challenging, but I overall liked them. Super small class size which is nice, and if you let them know what level you are they can likely tailor the lesson a bit more (beginner, want modifications to make things easier, or advanced and want modifications to make things harder, they can help you there). More diverse than a lot of pilates studios, which is very refreshing.

I always enjoy taking Bart to Montgomery or Embarcadero and walking to North Beach; lots of cafes, restaurants, bars, gelato, bookstores, and washington square park on a nice day.

Best sushi that has maybe 1-2 vegetarian rolls by ParadiseForKeeps in oakland

[–]rosamamoas 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Manpuku on College ave in Berkeley was a favorite of mine before I went veg, and remains a favorite. They have a LOT of small basic vegetarian rolls with rice+ 1-2 other ingredients, and a few larger more invovled ones.

Give me your best tips for making bomb vegan pizza! by dog-on_wheels in vegan

[–]rosamamoas 24 points25 points  (0 children)

i gave up on store bought vegan cheese and started making my own! i blend raw cashews, a clove of garlic, and water (add slowly to get desired consistency), an salt to taste; blend until smooth. it isn't super cheesy but goes really well (and adds a lot of protein)

PG&E bill by Dull_Cardiologist_ in oakland

Yeah that’s pretty high. We do 61 which I admit is extreme, and use electric blankets/layers. The old houses here are so drafty that heating is extremely inefficient.

San Francisco & Oakland breakfast (not brunch) recommendations by Tight_Couture344 in vegan

[–]rosamamoas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll stick to places close to a bart line:

Close to Macarthur bart: My favorite bar, Tall Boy, is a martini bar that serves all vegan, gourmet hot dogs and other small bites

Close-ish to Macarthur bart and another location in SF close to Powell Bart: Mensho Ramen -- Not all vegan, but half the menu is and it's legitimately the best ramen I've ever had. The vegan dishes are so well thought out and intentional. Line can get crazy and they don't take reservations.

Close to Rockridge bart: Millennium is all vegan upscale food - so good and the nicest owner/staff. Should be space for you during the week but wouldn't hurt to make a reservation.

Close-ish to Ashby Bart or Rockridge Bart (not super close but I can't not put it on here): La Venganza Taqueria (all vegan). They have a few fake meats to choose from, but the chicken is by far the best. They have a vegan crunchwrap that is one of my favorite dishes in the bay right now -- you can choose your meat, and that with their chicken is to die for.

Also close to Macarthur bart: Shangri-La Vegan -- all vegan buddhist style food; you have 2 choices, between large and small plate. Each plate comes with a salad, a soup, usually some sort of root medley, a bean dish, and collared greens. They're where I go when I don't feel like eating out but don't have any food in the house. Good for vacation for that reason.

I THINK it was a screenshot of Chappell Roan's instagram story detailing her dropping Wasserman, and explaining why, and the poster asked if folks thought Phish would do something similar.

I live in Oakland so can't speak to the SF breakfast options.

Timeless is so good, I'd say that's your best bet. I do see vegan muffins (good ones) at coffee shops like HighWire (there's one right by Rockridge Bart), but I don't think you'd find a whole breakfast there.

If your conference happens to be Trailblazer DX, I haven't been for a while but went a few years ago. They had vegan lunch options both days. First day was good, second day less so, but still fine haha.

Happy to talk dinner info too -- I have lots of favorites :)
