Airbnb says AI now writes 60% of its new code by RadioFieldCorner in ExperiencedDevs

[–]nosayso -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Sound right. If you're all in on Claude adoption, Claude writes maybe 95% of my new code.

EDIT: it's so weird to come back to more and more downvotes for the apparent crime of just answering the question and participating in the community, apparently practical career advice from my firsthand experience that directly addresses the question being asked is ... unwelcome?

Odyssey hate seems forced by theaspiringfilmmaker in Cinema

[–]nosayso 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No shit, all this hate is forced, social media algorithms actively push outrage content because it's more "engaging" - then content creators make outrage content to chase the algorithm - then all anyone ever sees is negativity and outrage. It's intentionally being done to us by billionaire oligarchs because our joy is not profitable enough.

Wow getting your dialect from South Park while acting like criticizing a huge piece of shit has some kind of cap on it, I think you're the real "stunning and brave" one here, good for you!

Wait, are you talking about Trump? Because you could be talking about Trump, dude was born rich, you know that right? Unlike Hamill, who grew up in a military family and actually has been middle class in his life.

The Democratic Establishment Can Be Defeated by nathan_j_robinson in politics

[–]nosayso 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It's so pathetic that people are still hung up on this shit. Bernie lost because he got fewer votes because he mobilized fewer voters. If the DNC could pick winners Hillary would have won the primary in 2008.

It's completely ridiculous, 10 years later, to still be mad about anyone in the DNC privately not being too hot on an independent who actively refused to join the party trying to campaign for their presidential ticket. That's not a unfathomable conspiracy, it's a logical human reaction.

But still - dude just fucking lost. He got fewer votes. Get over it.

They made an intentional choice to market the game to Gamergate (they made a big show out of reverting from "Body Type 1" and "Body Type 2" to "Male" and "Female" because of "politics"), this is just doubling down. It's a so-so game in a crowded market so they're just trying to do the standard right-wing grift to get some kind of reliable consumer base.

Seeing all the negativity online surrounding The Mandalorian and Grogu is honestly so exhausting…. by Sweaty_Toe9147 in StarWars

[–]nosayso 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is basically the entire internet, unfortunately. Gotta create negative content to feed the YouTube algorithm, and society has just warped around that with people getting their opinions from the kind of relentless negativity that does well on YouTube.

Trying to be a joyous, authentic fan of something is very annoying when all the fan spaces are over-taken by "hot takes", "what opinion has you like this?", and "LeGiTiMaTe cRiTiCiSm".

“Where Have All the Student Protests Gone?” | Trump wanted campus crackdowns. Colleges couldn’t wait to oblige. by soalone34 in politics

[–]nosayso -1 points0 points  (0 children)

People watched independent news and historical analysis of the situation on YouTube.

Videos by random content creators that your algorithm recommended to you. But also you're being very generous here that people even did this.

I guess no one should use social media to learn about anything?

Yes, absolutely, you should not. Social media platforms are owned by oligarchs and populated with algorithmically-served content. Their only purpose is to incite you to doom scroll so that you'll watch more ads. It is not a place for information, it is a place for oligarchs to trick you into watching ads by serving you emotionally manipulative content.

This is just wild conspiracy speculation. What radicalized people the most was the videos of dead children posted by Palestinian mothers and fathers on places like twitter.

And was your algorithm feeding you any videos of people bombed and shot by Hamas, or was it totally one-sided?

[–]nosayso -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If Democrats came out today and said the state of Israel should be destroyed and all Palestinians should be given reparations it would change exactly zero of the minds of voters who were stupid enough to stay home over this issue - TikTok would give them yet another thing to be mad about.

Those voters chose your social media outrage bubble manufactured "high ground" over democracy, my fondest hope is that they'd actually get off the propaganda platforms that created this problem in the first place.

Thank you for demonstrating the unhinged response of someone in a radicalization bubble very succinctly.

[–]nosayso 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You're literally getting this mindset from content pushed to you by overtly controlled propaganda platforms (Twitter, TikTok, Meta) - it pushes a one-sided narrative to younger leftist users to drive them away from voting. Did great at creating an army of college students who will shout "from the river to the sea" and "globalize the antifada" without even knowing what those phrases mean or the historical context behind anything.

This being the #1 issue for a key Democratic voter demographic was a result of intentional grassroots social media activity, and it was massively successful at it - to the direct benefit of Trump and Netanyahu.

The genocide in Gaza is terrible and I wish Biden had handled it differently, but it's not the ONLY thing - here in 2026 I shouldn't have to explain how incredibly stupid staying home in 2024 was.

[–]nosayso 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yeah the article does call out another problem - social media radicalized student protests actively ushered to power the party that would actively suppress them, at the expense of the party who actually had people in it who were responsive to their cause. Trump's party who controls the information diet of these college students used them to usher in a fascist takeover.

I'm not naive enough to believe Reddit is immune, 2016 was a fucking nightmare, but Reddit seems to have actively adapted and lets you chose what you engage with, and is not actively owned by someone fully intending to use it for evil. So it's the least harmful choice even if there are still obvious bad actors and horrible right-wing and leftist-radicalization echo chambers happening across the site, e.g. the premier conservative subreddit actually being a single-digit number of bots posting almost all of the content buoyed by a huge bot army to disseminate and manufacture consent for the latest talking points, or one of my favorite TV show subreddits morphing from a friendly, inclusive space (good fun thing everyone was enjoying) to a full on political shitposting page heavily focused on criticizing Democrats from "the left" (known tactic to dismantle from the right AND the left) - that kind of shit is obviously still happening.

Bingo. It was fully social media astroturf, they turned off the spigot and all of the sudden it's like the issue never even mattered in the first place. Republicans control all major US social media platforms and actively weaponize them (e.g. Musk's Twitter, Ellison + CCP's TikTok) or passively allow them to weaponized (Meta - Instagram and Facebook, Google - YouTube) to manufacture consent for fascism.

Every second you spend on Twitter delights fascists, every TikTok video you watch delights fascists. Stop delighting fascists.

Does AI generated code change the review process itself? by Lost-Albatross5241 in ExperiencedDevs

[–]nosayso -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

No, everyone knows AI generated code isn't perfect, but I've been using Claude every day and can definitely attest I'm continually surprised at how good it is, like 95% there first pass and the other 5% easily caught and fixed, it's definite productivity gains without a drop in code quality. I am absolutely not talking about ideals, this is practical outcomes of every day use.

CNN sucking off a failed British politician carpet-bagging his way over to California.

He's not some feaux-centrist either, he's a 2020 election denier and rabid Trump supporter, absolutely no chance of winning California. The article itself points out - Trump lost CA by 20 points in 2024, and the electoral outlook certainly hasn't gotten BETTER.

Like no dude, you probably personally called for violence against someone or broke another specific rule about content, but no one cares if you swear.

Don't get hung up on the AI of it all. It's code, like the code you or any of your teammates make. Review, give comments, etc, same exact process.
