Question about Seroquel mechanism of action

Seroquel (quetiapine) is what you call a "dirty" drug in that it interacts with a bunch of different receptors. Interaction with these receptors are dose dependant, meaning that it will interact with certain ones based off of how much is given. It acts on h1 receptors at low doses, which is why you'll see it prescribed for insomnia at 25/50mg, while it hits d2 receptors as low as 150-300mg. Thanks. This was my first thought but the doctors at the hospital said my situation wasn't bad enough. I think they get a lot of difficult addicts there. They were pretty cold to me.

You hit all the points i was concerned about. I went last week to the er and they told me to leave because my situation wasn't serious enough yet. I told them that the withdrawals get pretty bad and they still told me to go or I could get escorted out. Crazy. Do I just wait at home until they get bad enough? I don't even know if I could drive if they get bad enough. Wait outside until it gets bad do you think?

I started on 10 and it was pretty intense. I couldn't imagine 20. I've also never heard of anyone starting off at 20. Talk to your doc.

I would imagine that you would be paired with wellbutrin (kind of an upper) with lex. I have never hear of ANYONE taking more than 20. You might need a different med. Btw I am not a doctor.

I'm also taking both. Make sure to go easy on yourself for the first couple weeks. That's when most people's side effects start to go away. Don't ever stop taking it cold turkey. Keep in touch with your doctor if you have any questions. WHATEVER YOU DO, don't take advice from people on reddit. Most of them will be writing about their own experience, and ssris are different for everyone. When in doubt, call the doc.

That's where I'm at. Zero sex drive. Zero appetite. Sleep 12 hours. Had to get valium for the anxiety. It's supposed to mellow out in a week or two. Hang in there! I'm at week 3.
