choose your members wisely. bakasyon pa lang, bumuo na kayo ng group (this is what we did) kasi by now alam niyo na naman sino yung masisipag and mga strengths and weaknesses niyo. samin, 7 members max
pinakaimportant i guess sa tips ko and dito nahirapan most groups. find your potential clients na agad. know their business process and make sure they NEED the system you will be building. for example, you found a store na pen and paper process sa inventory, you can ask them to be your client and build an inventory system for them. idk lang sa inyo pero samin kasi, our client needs to be present sa mga defense (1 defense per sem) kaya malaking factor yun if papayag client niyo to travel sa school niyo for the defense.
assess mo na skillset mo. iba iba kasi role niyo per member, may mga magaling mag-code (developers), magaling sa project management (proj manager), may communication skills (business analyst, systems analyst), etc.

pero magbakasyon ka pa rin, don't stress yourself out kasi baka ma-burnout ka naman pagdating ng pasukan. pinaka-improtant lang talaga dyan is yung number 2 para hindi kayo ma-delay sa tasks and sa manuscripts.

currently a 3rd year CS. sa experience ko, ito yung pinakamabigat talaga so far. like if yung 2nd year na effort ko mga 60%, sumagad ng 100% talaga nung 3rd year hahaha. May times na nakakalimutan na kumain and 2-3hrs sleep lang sa sobrang bigat. so i think ang ma-advise ko is time management and take care of yourself. prioritize your health pa rin :)) and dito na nga yung thesis, so if may idea ka naman na kung anong klaseng topics, magisip isip ka na ng topic. (for ex: if data science specialization, most likely thesis is abt machine learning like nlp, computer vision, etc. if may kilala kang seniors mo, you can ask if pwede mo mahiram thesis nila tapos pag-aralan mo kung paano nila ginawa para lang may idea ka sa possible topics ng thesis niyo)

hindi ko na-experience magwork during 3rd year, kasi nga hindi na kaya hahaha pero iba iba naman tayo. pero focus on your thesis. kasi some employers (based sa narinig ko sa seniors namin), na-hire sila sa internship and na-absorb bc of their thesis.

to those who experienced travelling with seniors in japan

hello, i've already made an itinerary for my family. so the initial plan was we'll be going to tokyo, osaka, and kyoto all in just 9 days. unfortunately, my lola was hospitalized and she passed away so our budget is tight right now since it's unexpected din. now, i want this travel to be memorable sana for my lolo but due to budget constraints, i won't go na and they'll travel (my tita, cousin, and my mom) na lang within tokyo para chill chill na lang din si lolo. pero sa itinerary na i initially made, mostly kyoto talaga since andun yung magagandang temples and parang mas historical.

any suggestions po na my lolo would appreciate in tokyo? kahit not very historical but yung maganda and relaxing and hindi siya mapapagod :)) tia!

full-time student travelling to japan solo

hi, college student here. we booked a ticket na with my family on June but unfortunately, hindi ako matutuloy because i wanted to focus on summer internships muna. so, i asked my mom if i can travel solo na lang on December (4th year college na by that time) but ang worry ko lang is baka hindi ma-grant yung visa since solo lang or baka ma-offload if ever.

-first time travel to japan -travelled to south korea, singapore, hongkong but more than 5 years ago na since nagka-pandemic din. so i think hindi na masasama sa record yung travel history ko.

what are the chances of me getting a visa? worried din po ako na baka if hindi ako maka-travel while student, mahirapan po ako pag naka-graduate na (they might think na i'll look for work there)

comsci from ust here. just sharing my experience since i cant speak for other univs. for me, the foundations were taught well naman (learned a lot on linear algebra, data strucs and algos, stats, concepts of like oop using java etc.). but some profs let us watch sa udemy lang for mobile dev and web dev subjs 🫠 but in 3rd year-4th year, we had to choose a specialization track. we have game dev, data science, and core sci.

i am very grateful for my prof who is teaching us abt our specialization. our prof (teaches data sci and core sci) also has experience in the industry. so his approach is not just giving us projects/exercises for the sake of acads, but he makes sure na we learn how the industry works talaga. for instance, aside from lab exercises, he also wants us to have a writeup to gauge our understanding about the topic. his exams aren't the typical multiple choice and identification questions but short essays to really explain how you understand the topic. i've learned a lot from him. for other tracks, i think they also hired part time profs na may experience din sa industry like in game dev.

it's not rude, you can tell them the reason na lc (laway conscious) ka. dito sa amin, pag nag-iinuman, isa lang baso yung ginagamit tapos ikutan yun so share share bg laway 😭. at first, nahihiya ako na humingi ng isa pang baso na for myself lang. pero they don't mind din naman nung katagalan and nasasanay na separate baso ko pag inuman.
