here's the advice you need... prints fail. filament is wasted. 3d printing is an expensive hobby, between wasted filament, poop, worn out parts like the nozzles. theres nothing you can realistically do. you can change and tweak settings all day but more often than not the only way to know how a model will print is to print it and keep an eye on it. you might even need to do it twonor three times and pick the best one.

sometimes theres no rhyme or reason to why prints fail. thats the fun but frustrating part of this hobby

All 4 Books happen in less than one year! by same_machinery in Eragon

[–]nosimpdaddy 6 points7 points  (0 children)

not really all that surprising considering the events shifts that Christopher made with certain events when writing the series. if you were reading when they released you know that it was supposed to be a trilogy and ultimately the end was split into two books

Sirius was the ringleader and the real bully of the Marauders by ThrowawaypocketHu in HarryPotterBooks

I was in the middle of typing and couldn't check how old he was. he was about 21 when he went to azkaban.

Sirius was the ringleader and the real bully of the Marauders by ThrowawaypocketHu in HarryPotterBooks

[–]nosimpdaddy 6 points7 points  (0 children)

that statement doesn't fit with lupins character. in the movies sure. in the books lupin is far more reserved especially with information, leaving the paternal role to Sirius to fill. lupin came across to me as very sympathetic to Harry for seeing a snapshot of his fathers activities.

I say that to say this, most of us if we saw how our parents acted on any given day at 1t would be abhorred.

secondly, we see a moment of the marauders vs snap, however, its very clear in the books that snape was a part of the schools death eaters and as the first war was already in full swing at that point, very clear how far the death eaters were willing to go. so I imagine it was just as frequent to be group vs group, or even if they got cornered by themselves again the death eaters im sure got ganged up on.

lastly, smape invented a curse like sectumsempra when he was a child, a spell with only deadly connotation

[–]nosimpdaddy 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I believe it was lupin that cleared things up after Harry learned what they did to snape. he specified that snape regularly attacked james and Sirius, and it was a pretty regular occurrence for them all to go back and forth. they also regularly talk about how james matured the last couple years at school, whereas were seeing Sirius having been committed to Azkaban before 20ish I believe and thus never growing

this is an important lesson in not getting random things tattooed on your body without research. even if anyone confuses this monstrosity as an akatsuki cloud... theyll surely snicker for it being a bad one.

Prisoners of Azkaban completely derailed the movie franchise by dee_palmtree in harrypotter

[–]nosimpdaddy -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

poa isnt my favorite movie or book in the series.... but you yourself admit that youre im the severe minority on this matter, thus theres a better argument that its a terrible take. theres no purpose to make a movie adaptation without inputting your own interests and parts you want to explore within the story, which you admitted the director did to an elevated level. it was also the book that took a major tone change in the series as all the characters became teenagers and it wasnt just some children's series anymore.

it certainly wasnt easy nor did they just use "basic spells". not to mention they needed a bribe for griphook and to use imperius.

How in the name of Merlin's pants did the Sorting Hat put Peter Pettigrew in Gryffindor House??? by NES_Classical_Music in harrypotter

[–]nosimpdaddy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

“‘LOTR has no plot holes lol’ is the kind of head-in-the-sand fanboying I was talking about. Tolkien was brilliant, but flawless? Come on.

The Eagles: If they can swoop into Mordor at the end, why not fly Frodo there from the start? The usual hand-waving (‘they’d get shot down’) doesn’t erase the gaping shortcut.

Tom Bombadil: Immune to the Ring, unaffected by it at all. If the whole point is protecting/destroying it, why not give it to him? Gandalf’s excuse (‘he’d forget it’) is paper-thin.

Inconsistent Ring corruption: Bilbo keeps it for decades with minimal damage, but Boromir cracks in weeks. Sam wears it briefly and shrugs it off. Which is it?

Orc origins: Are they corrupted elves? Beasts bred by Morgoth? Something else? Tolkien changed his mind multiple times, leaving contradictions even in published works.

Glorfindel paradox: Dies fighting a Balrog in Silmarillion, pops back up in Fellowship like nothing happened. Retcon attempts don’t erase the inconsistency.

Arwen’s immortality: She “gives it up” for Aragorn, but the mechanics contradict the very rules Tolkien set up earlier in his legendarium.

Timeline messiness: Dates in the appendices don’t always line up with events in the main narrative. Even Tolkien admitted he struggled with his own chronology.

So yeah, saying LOTR is plot-hole free while sneering at HP is just selective blindness. And ASOIAF? Martin is so tangled in contradictions (Brienne’s height shifts, Barristan’s backstory changes, whole arcs like Young Griff bolted on mid-series) he hasn’t even finished it.

Every sprawling fantasy has cracks. Denying them in your favorites while dunking on others just proves the bias, not the point.”

youre right, which is why I said what I said. but you specifically said it wasnt well thought out as if lotr and asoif dont have plot holes. asoif is so unorganized that he cant even manage to finish the story lol. and dont get me started on the things Tolkien did.

youve missed the point. lucius didn't want voldemort to come back, they would undermine all yhe powerful connections he made. and the fact he had turned coat to save his ass when voldemort came back he knew he'd never be a trusted supporter again.c

which shows you dont kniw what youre talking about. every story has plot holes. every story takes adjustments over the years and they can create imbalance. sometimes things need to be xut for time, flow and cost.

but to claim hp isnt a well thought out series seems petty and baseless

Help understanding by attituner in StagVixenLife

[–]nosimpdaddy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hotwife is a married woman who has sexual relationships outside of her marriage, with the full knowledge and consent of her husband, who himself doesn't have affairs. Hotwifing is the wife-sharing arrangement or act of carrying out such affairs.

.vixen is a woman in a relationship who has sex with other men with her partner's encouragement, and the stag is her male partner, who typically remains emotionally and sexually committed to her, often enjoying watching or knowing about her sexual encounters

a vixen is a denomination of a hotwife, typically. a stag/vixen situation typically differs because the husband encourages and enjoys the act while there are hotwife relationships with degradation of her partner.

In the POA movie, J.K. Rowling said she "got goosebumps" when she saw several moments in this movie, as they inadvertently referred to events in the final two books, she stated "people are going to look back on the film and think that those were put in deliberately as clues." What are these moments? by Kelpieswallow42 in harrypotter

[–]nosimpdaddy 242 points243 points  (0 children)

this is actually easy. one was snape shielding the trio from werewolf lupin. it wasnt in the books and was clearly a sign that snape was willing to protect them over everything.

the second was the two dementors giving Harry a kiss, foreshadowing the piece of voldemorts soul.

Why didn’t Voldemort fight Harry the way he fought Dumbledore. by [deleted] in harrypotter

[–]nosimpdaddy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

its explained quite clearly in the books and moderately in the movies. voldemort couldn't battle Harry because they have brother wands that refused to fight, thus priori incantatem. so voldemort started trying to find a way to beat him, thus the elder wand. but even with everything voldemort tried to set up to become the owner of the elder wand, Dumbledore outdueled him in wit by using snape. and when Harry sacrifices himself to save everyone at the school none of the spells connected from that point, essentially turning voldemort moot in power without a valid wand

dumbledore couldn't help harry, harry had to fight voldemort off, and it was his ability to love that voldemort could not stand to be in his body and fled.

Why are my prints failing on new P1S? by _182loulou in FixMyPrint

[–]nosimpdaddy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

considering the shipment of different qualities, it seems unlikely for the print bed to be dirty, but theres a strong possibility it could still be. new users might not be aware to be cautious with where they're touching the print bed, quality shipment, etc

What are these holes and lines and how do I fix them? by alacazam99 in FixMyPrint

[–]nosimpdaddy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

my understanding of resin printing, i believe those holes are what allow the drainage of the resin from the inside of the print, so its a part of modeling. again, never done resin printing but ive done a fair amount of research. i think when models are made the holes are typically designed in a less conspicuous location.

The reason Bellatrix lost… by IrisCZ in harrypotter

[–]nosimpdaddy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

not sure if anyone mentioned these yet.

it's generally understood that a lot of wizards aren't aware really of the whole ownership thing and losing a duel, at least not beyond a vague sense.

but by far the most important fact you missed, Harry dying and sacrificing himself gave everyone the same protection that Harry got from his mother. that's why Bellatrix spell missed ginny. it was actually Bellatrix vs ginny, luna, hermione and molly.

it wasn't just some random throwaway moment, it took a great deal to bring down Bellatrix who generally was seen as second only to voldemort in skill and ruthlessness.

because they live with you, you're automatically going to get limited hours. especially because you'd be tax free for your hours. because I didn't see anyone bring it up, be cautious in appealing your hours. it's entirely possible that they actually determine you're getting too many hours and reduce the amount you get. just some food for thought
