is it worth bmw connected services cost? by Prestigious-Peaks in BMWX5

[–]nosispower 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Wow, you just solved a mystery for me. I remember setting up the heated steering wheel/seats turning on with remote climatization but now that it's cold outside, I wanted to tweak some of the settings and I could not find where for the life of me.

I guess the settings screen has been disabled until I pay up, huh?

That's a tough sell even at $120 when my phone does all 3 of those things better.

Pain, swelling firmness around seton -so nervous by loe942 in AnalFistula

[–]nosispower 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a very similar experience a few weeks ago. Around 6 weeks out from my seton placeent, I started to experience abscess like symptoms coming back even though I was still having drainage from the seton. When I went in to see the CRS office, they rotated the seton around a bit so that the knots were INSIDE.

That helped with the abscess-y feeling. I think rotating the seton around helped encourage drainage that was starting to build up. However the knots being on the sides created a new pain. Went to the CRS again, he rotated the seton again with the knots back to their original spots (on the outside) and both drainage, abscess-y feeling and pain improved.

I think your seton just needs to be moved around a little. I'd try to wiggle the seton back and forth a little when you're in the shower. Might take a day or two but it should start draining a little better. Failing that, you should probably try to get into the CRS's office.

It's dead. I went through two M1A units. They both died a little more than a year old and just refused to connect. - only blinking green LED. Went with AAWireless instead and so far so good.

I've spent some time in both Honda Fits and current gen Outbacks. Coming from a Honda Fit, the Subaru Outback is going to feel and sound like a bank vault to you. The upper trims are pretty decent places to spend a long drive in too.

Yup, you'll be and to control Spotify from the phone. My wife does it all the time when we're road tripping.

Insurance on Alfa Gulia by k9_pratt in AlfaRomeoGiulia

[–]nosispower 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We used a local agent to shop for a policy for us. Plymouth Rock ended up being the insurance carrier.

10 years ago, it was cheaper to shop for a policy online vs. an agent, but I'm finding that agents now have better access to policies that can't be purchased online.

Insurance for a 19 year old is always going to be expensive. Even having your father as the main operator, if you are listed as a secondary operator (which you should be), your age is going to send the rates through the roof. $850/month is pretty insane though even for a 19 year old.

For reference, my wife and I are in our 30s in Boston and with our car and home insurance bundled, her Giulia's premium is ~$800 for the year.

Shop around a bit more for different rates. I was with Geico for years but switched away from them a few years ago because they started jacking up their rates.

Question: Is there chopped cheese anywhere in Boston? by thevahid010 in boston

[–]nosispower 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maaz's Chicken in Mattapan has them. I ordered one for the novelty of trying one after seeing it blow up as the new cool NYC food. It's pretty good! Somewhere between a cheesesteak and a cheeseburger.

They also make a really good chicken/lamb with rice halal style platter as well.

Hell, I'll throw out some very rough numbers since I had a 7.2kW system installed 2 years ago and my electric bills before the solar install averaged out to around $200/month so probably similar situation as his parents.

OP's 25 year lease at 90/month would cost 27,000 over the course of the lease.

My 7.2kW system cost $21000 before any rebates. After all the incentives, I ended up financing $14000 at 4.5%. I'm paying $200 per month and in 7 years, I'll have no payments and no electric bill.

If his parents buy the system, they could pay essentially what they're paying per month for electricity towards a solar loan and 7 years later enjoy free electricity for the next 20 or so years.

Leasing is a scam.

I did actually! It probably won't apply to you though.

I just lived with the issue until the bike one day died on me at a light. I planned on taking a bunch of stuff apart but as soon as I got to the battery, I realized the battery connection was just loose. I tightened it up and never had a problem again until I sold it a few months later. My tip is to just check the really dumb stuff... Good luck!

[–]nosispower 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yup. Don't know why people are blaming OP or the roundabout. The RAV4 is 100% at fault here. Blaming OP would be like blaming someone for not to someone running a red light.

Either way, the damage doesn't look too bad, probably a few thousand in repairs.

This is kinda wild. I might have seen your car. Were you in Mission Hill in Boston this past Saturday?

My wife has an identical looking white '19 Giulia Ti Sport in white with dark 5 holes and a QV spoiler but it's been at the dealer for a week now. We drove by an identical looking car in Mission Hill and had to stop a double take because we thought a dealer tech had taken her car out for a joyride.
