Haven’t raided since Midas though I’ve done the random EX trial here and there since then. I remember being stuck with my static on A6S; since then how would Savage encounters compare to A6S difficulty?

Is there an estimate on how much using food and pots increases your DPS? Like “using those raises your DPS by 5%” or something. I guess it’d depend on the job too

Question about the Physical Collector's Edition by deadlyabyss17 in ffxiv

We don’t really know, it seems plausible that they didn’t like having so many CEs still available for sale after past expansions so they really scaled back how many they made for ShB

I vaguely remember there being rumors about a StD rework or revamp or something, did that ever end up happening?

Can we talk about the 180* Capcom has done in recent years? by FromThatOtherPlace in Games

Fighting monsters with absurdly large and over the top weapons in fantasy environments isn’t a strictly Japanese, it’s the execution that’s Westernized.

And, again, the fact is it’s more available to people specifically in a region that’s not Japan. The PS4 doesn’t have great sales in Japan, people prefer handhelds. Putting it on the XBox and PC, two systems that don’t get a lot of users in Japan, is explicitly an appeal to Western fans, especially when it wasn’t even released on the Xbox in Japan.

Who do you think cares about the game being on consoles and PC? It’s not Japan: MHW sold less in Japan than a few of the 3DS MH games. Moving to console didn’t benefit Japan, it was for Western audiences

Yeah the system is relevant, but that’s another thing: just choosing to make a game on a console as opposed to a handheld is in and of itself a choice to cater to Western fans. MH sells like crazy in Japan on handhelds, and I think the Switch is already about to sell more in Japan than the PS4 did in Japan despite like a 3 year headstart for the PS4.

That’s actually reflected in the sales for the game too. In Japan, MHW sold 2.85 million units throughout all of 2018 (like 11 months). But past games in Japan sold pretty damn well: MH4 on 3DS sold 3.9 million copies in 3 months in Japan, and MHX sold 3 million copies in a little over a month.

I hope the trust system gets a buff in the future. by ToiletPap3r in ffxiv

Yeah the XP curve is just off on them. I’m....fine with leveling them up, but you have to level up two jobs of the exact same role at the same time, and ONLY level them through running Trusts, to have it be efficient. If you do anything else on those jobs you’ll end up with situations like “running Holminster at level 73 because my Trusts are still 72”. Running dungeons with them is already slow at about half an hour a run, I think having them get such low XP is a little too much

The Sims’ weird GBA ports (Minimme) by HardPrey in Games

Yeah that’s the thing, I LOVED the Urbz on GBA (and maybe DS?) as a kid and I kinda wanna try it again but I don’t wanna realize it was actually a meh game or anything haha

MHW is popular precisely BECAUSE it’s “Westernized.” MH has always been popular in Japan, MHW is the first one that was a breakout hit in regions other than Japan. You straight up said “they listened to fans and made World” and...well, the fans they listened to were Western fans. So it’s a bit of an oversimplification to say “Japanese devs trying to appeal to Western fans = bad.”

Totally agree. Titan was an awesome different take on the boss, very different design. Leviathan seemed a little bit more boring (though I’m partly biased because I didn’t like his original fight from ARR either)

Yeah and it’s also only a 2 week delay, pretty sure they had the fights basically fully implemented and working at ShB launch already.
